the mle according to that article will ALL go for kj. I don't think we can even spare some to sign Harell because there will be teams offering full mle and we have to match to resign him. This will happen on 10 july. So in the meantime we can't sign ANYONE that doesn't take vet minimum. A trade is all but guaranteed.

Can someone explain to me what a MLE is? I've been on this board for a year and all I read is "we could use the MLE on this or that" but have never used it. What is it?
It allows a team that is at/over the cap to go over the cap by ~5M to sign player(s) (teams with cap-room have it too, but they only get ~2.5M).

Don't we have a TPE from the Shved trade to the Knicks? If I remember correctly it was a $3.2M TPE.. I would love to slip Randy Foye into that TPE if we acquired Lawson. Don't know if we used it though, hopefully someone can clarify.
Also it's an "exception" meaning you only have access to it if you're over the cap. If your over but not in the luxury tax limit you get the full MLE at around 5.5 but if you're over the luxury you only get the mini MLE at around 3.3. Once you drop below the cap limit you loose the ability to use the exception.
I wouldn't be surprised that if Lowry etc aren't obtainable in the future either, and we end with Prigioni or a similar player instead.
I don't think they can. I *believe* they can only use up to the full MLE amount to match, which is why we are not using the MLE on another player until KJ's situation plays out.
