The only way this would work is Cleveland giving up the Hayward contract for Lee and the 1st rounder. This would only make sense if they know Love is leaving either way. But even then, I don't see anyone taking on Lee, not even the 76ers
If I were Hinkie, I'd trade for Lee and squeeze the Warriors for $.4 million to go along with #30. Then I'd re-negotiate Lee's contract up to around $21 million for this season with an extension signed for 3 years /$40 million non-guaranteed with no guarantee date. Now Lee can be flipped as an asset to a playoff team 6 months after the renegotiation and extension. And Philly would most likely be able to squeeze another first rounder out of him when he is traded. He could also be traded to another team wishing to avoid the luxury tax. Or he could make a playoff run with a team he is traded to and then be trade fodder next summer as a $13.3 million non-guaranteed salary.

The #30 is not enough to absorb such a big contract even if its expiring. It takes you comletely out of the fa market. Furthermore most teams with capspace are young and rebuilding and have no use of a veteran who expires.
Completely agree...make them suffer and eat that contract!!! I want Harrison Barnes and a 1st rounder if Im gonna eat that contract...and I give up Nick Johnson and Matt Schaub signed to a one day deal...
Its gonna take multiple draft picks to move Lee...LOL... Also good luck paying Draymond the max...and dont forget, you still have Curry on a dirt cheap deal...So it begins...

Don't know if they should be laughing. Nobody is going to eat David Lee unless one of these GMs is a secret Warriors fan.
Can someone tell me how the warriors were able to sign green to the max without getting rid of Lee yet?
They had Green's bird rights. They were allowed to go far above the cap to resign him. They are going to have to pay the luxury tax, but they can do that.
The 2015-2016 league year has not officially started so no one has signed their contracts. Since Draymond was their own free agent, the Dubs can go well into tax territory to keep him so trading Lee just reduces their tax bill.
