Ramon Laureano is having a nice season for Quad Cities. He was a 16th-round pick in 2014 and his debut in Greeneville was cut short by an injury. He didn't join the team until the end of May. He's currently on an 8-game hitting streak that's put his average right around .300.
Thanks for the update. Good to hear he is doing well. if he keeps it up, we could be hearing about him being called up by next summer. Everyone said he was an advanced hitter and SS. And since he can play anywhere on the infield including catcher, he will keep everyone on their toes.
Yesterday in El Paso, Jake Marisnick hit a bases-clearing double, walked twice, and stole 3 bases. Meanwhile in Lancaster, Jake Nottingham went 2-4 and hit his 1st homer in the Cali League. He now has 11 on the season.
I was at that game last night and was struck by how small he seemed in comparison to some of his other teammates. 6-0, 180 seemed very generous when describing him.
Alex Bregman had another 3-5 game for Quad Cities as they beat Peoria 8-5 in 11 innings. He ripped a 2-run double in the 2nd inning. The winning hit was a 3-run homer from Ramon Laureano in the 11th. Laureano is currently in the midst of a 9-game hitting streak. In 7 of those 9 games, he's recorded 2 hits.
Down in the Dominican, Michel Martinez, a Cuban defector whom the Astros signed at some point last offseason, struck out 11 over 5 perfect innings for the DSL Blue team. Elieser Hernandez, who struck out 10 over 4 scoreless innings for Tri-City, has struck out 28 in 15.2 innings without issuing a walk. He has hit 2 batters, though

^ I knew we were stocked at the minor league level but I didn't think it was so good that we had Matt Kemp in AAA.
