    The Astros have a ton of club controlled talent. Astros should be in a strong position financially to compete for top free agents this winter.

    It means the Astros have spent less on payroll per win than any other team. They are getting more bang for their buck so to speak.

    Good news for Crane, but not a big deal as a fan since there's no salary cap in MLB.

    There is not a salary cap imposed by the league, but Crane has a finite amount of money to spend on team. Having a low payroll and a good team while the Astros start making money from Root Sports deal is a good thing for fans. Astros payroll will likely jump to about $120 million in next couple of years. Free agents will likely cost 8 Million per win. Basically, Astros should improve by about 5 wins due to free agents.
