But why wouldn't we be able to convince him to take fewer mid-range shots? The "sources" said he was impressed with our analytics. I'm confident we explained to him exactly what we expect in terms of 3 point shooting and mid-range jumpers. Whether or not he chooses to come here is a different story.

By all means, if we could convince him to abandon his preferred way of playing basketball in order to play to his strengths and fit with the team then LMA would be great. I just don't think it would be very likely to happen.

Would you agree that our pitch to LMA included his exact basketball role on the team? I am making an assumption that we gave him a detailed plan on how he would fit. I don't think we would sign him and then blindside him by saying we expect him to only shoot threes, for example.
What I don't get about Sac is that for the price they just paid to unload Landry and Thompson, they almost certainly could've gotten Lawson, who is a great fit for the up and down system they want to run. But instead, they spend significant assets clearing salary to pursue players that clearly DONT fit that system. Mathews, Rondo, and Ellis are primarily half court guys. It's like they are trying to destroy the franchise just to spite Cousins.
