Hated it when the Rockets let him go. He was a buzzsaw of hustle. Don't exactly remember the roster situation, but he was a throw-in on some trade and lasted just a short time. Saw him live in the NCAAs here locally while at Mizzou.
They won 49 games is a season when they weren't very healthy. 48 games the year before, when they tried to tank. There are plenty of hinkies and **** teams already, I love that Ujiri chose to go in the other direction.
Big reason why they won so many is coz they play in the titanic division. Still havent won one playoff series in franchise history.
Sure. But that doesn't make tanking any easier. They did win playoff series btw, remember Iverson and Vince Carter days? But they've never been to conference finals. If you are winning close to 50 games by accident, everyone around you is "tanking," and you have been the laughingstock of the NBA for 2 decades, then why the **** would you tank too? Take advantage of the situation and win some games against all those tankers, maybe even make conference finals. No better time than now.
Gfor wiggins. Now they are on the treadmill. Your pacers already have a superstar and added a high upside youngester too. The raptors have chuckers and their high upside youngster they fail to develop . At least pierce left for the west so good fir them they may win a playoff series this year.
They can go for next Wiggins in 4 years or whenever this current core declines. No point to tank unless you are a terrible team, or you can trade your core players for multiple lottery picks. Which is easier said than done. Tbh, if we assigned 30 random posters from this forum an NBA team to manage, I bet 25 of them would be tanking for Wiggins.
One subplot to consider: apparently, the Knicks were going to offer Carroll a similar deal as well. Carroll fills a significant need for the Knicks. The Knicks' next year's pick belongs to the Raptors -- or rather, they will get one of Denver or the Knicks' picks. Helping those two teams stay bad is in the Raptors' best interest right now. Btw, Masai Ujiri is just crazy good at getting picks for nothing. He trades Bargnani for potentially a lottery pick, he trades Greivis Vasquez for cap space and a couple picks. I'd trade Larry Bird, Frank Vogel, Kevin Pritchard and a 1st round pick for Masai Ujiri. Please, Raptors?
God, people are making so much money. I knew the cap was jumping, but it's still startling to see some of these numbers for solid but unspectacular rotation players.
