If Clippers can resign DJ, they'll look awfully scary next year. Not only will they have added Lance, who was terrible last year, but should still be a vast improvement over an aging and limited Matt Barnes. Now they've added Paul "i called game" Pierce. Yes he is old, yes he lost a step or two, but damn the man can still play. At the very least he's going to be tons better than Turkolu or Austin Rivers.
Why cant more elite/useful players move east where I'm not rooting for any team! Winning the West might be even crazier next year! Warriors - The 67 win Champs! OKC - Durant/westbrook/Ibaka/Kanter Spurs - POP, Duncan, Leonard, Ginobli, Parker & possibly Aldridge!?? Clippers - CP3, Blake, DJ?, Pierce, Stephenson, Crawford, Reddick! Thats not even including the Rockets with Harden/Howard & whoever else Morey gets or the Gasol/randolph/Conley Grizzlies!
This signing concerns me more than most Pierce is a CLOSER Kind of Wish the Rockets would have gotten him Rocket River
It's only 3.3 million per year. With the ballooning cap, that money won't mean much over the last two years.
Third year is a team option so they really are only on the hook for the first two. Just like Lance Stephenson who the Clippers have a team option for 2016 as well. Lance has one year to bounce back or the Clippers can drop $9M off their team salary. The good thing is that he will be motivated if he wants to get paid. With Pierce, it would have been more ideal if he signed for Vet minimum so the Clippers could use their mini-Mid Level on a backup center or even a starting center if Deandre leaves. Now they need to try and trade Jamal Crawford for that player.
Pierce did take 1/2 of what Washington was offering so he can finish his career where he grew up so I guess the Clippers and Pierce met half-way with this mini-Mid-level contract.
