Let's get this straight.....

Of course Portland would love to get a mega Sign and Trade package, and you wouldn't have to offer nearly that amount to get them to sign off if they know for sure they are losing LMA.... and I think at this point they are definitely realizing its almost surely going to happen. Nobody wants to lose their star player and get nothing in return. Of course they'd love to get a S&T package that helps them rebuild.

In order to get a S&T done you need the following to happen -

-You need the the former team to accept they are out of the running & willing to deal because....
-You have team B. with max cap space (probably LAL in this scenario) to be sitting there as the alternative that you will sign with outright if your former team doesn't cooperate
-You need the free agent player to choose your team as option A.
-You need the free agent to cooperate, and push his former team to deal.


So in this scenario, there is no way you need to offer something crazy like that. You need first off for that free agent to choose your team as option A. and you need them to play along with the convoluted process of getting a S&T done.

I think if all goes right, the Blazers would accept just about anything that got them assets in return. Ariza, Papanikolaou, Prigoni, Jones or D-Mo, and maybe a pick should get it done.
