He lives in LA...what's better than actually playing for the city that you live in? Half of the NBA season, he gets to sleep in his own house, not some temporary pad until his next contract. Plus, LA has max money, where as other teams need to get creative. LA doesn't need the help of the Blazers or the help of a 3rd team via trade to get LMA. It's as streamlined as possible.

    per wikipedia:
so even more streamlined is to just stay in POR and just as streamlined would be to join DAL, who also has the same max money and his mother (who's recovering from cancer) and his 2 sons live there. still not seeing why he chooses LAL over the other 4 teams. in fact, the quotes from this article would clearly indicate otherwise:

He also has a home here in Texas where he spends most of his summers.

By the way, the Lakers have had max cap space for three years straight, how has that worked out?

Your reasoning continues to fall flat. Time to admit you pulled that "top 5 in 2 years" comment out of your keister.

It is pretty simple for LARM at this point. If we wants to have a chance at a ring over a 3-4 year period he should help us force a sign and trade.

IMO, it is about three teams, Rockets, Spurs, or LA
If he chooses LA, I will actually be relieved because a)that team will not be a contender in at least 3 years, and b)we do not need to gut our team to get him
If he chooses Spurs, I will be truly concerned.
I honestly believe there is a decent chance he chooses us as we just made it to the WCF with H&H and he fits in perfectly. As soon as he tells Portland it is between Rockets' sNt(for sth) or Spurs (for nothing), Portland will cooperate with us.

Does a package built around four first round draft picks (the two new guys, Capela and next year's first) have the kind of value Portland (or any similar situation team) would look for in return in a quazi-forced trade of a top tier player? Add in Jones or Montejunas as needed. Expiring salaries from there.
