That has always been my favorite thing about DMo and the reason why I was so high on him so early in his career. Work ethic will take you a long way and his work ethic is fairly amazing.
I don't think D-Mo needs to put on a lot of muscle if he's playing PF next to Dwight. The trend is towards quicker, smaller, more mobile PF's and D'Mo can post those guys up while maintaining quickness for the slower, bigger guys. I think he needs to get stronger, but maybe we focus a lot on core strength more than anything else.
Seriously shut up with the weight gaining. If you expect/hope that DMO will need to play center again you're out of your mind. And if it does happen, fire Morey for having no depth at C and forcing PF to fill in.
He went from 220 to 260 and doesn't look like he gained that much weight....that means it was almost, if not all muscle mass. Seriously though, how much bigger do you expect him to get? He's already about the same size as Omer Asik.
Ah,okay to the eye, he doesn't look bulky or anything, but I am impressed how big he has gotten since coming into the league. He seems to be one of the few Rockets pushing their body. Since he is around 260 now tho,it doesnt hurt us at all now that he can switch between PF and C.
In the LT TV outlet interview he said that he was making 200 three pointers before every training. And it took him 40-50 minutes. I posted before that after becoming a starter he actually was the best three point shooter on a team. Reporter asked about low percentage of three throws - he said, that he was not working that much. Basically, looks like everything that he does good on the floor comes from hard training (moves in the post, and other). That is a very special talent to have.
Enough of the bumping this thread, I was scared there for a second that he has somehow injured himself again and is out for the next season.
Maybe gaining too much weight threw his back out? Dude looks yoked up in that pic let's hope he did it the natural way.
Exactly. My heart dropped all over again. Would be nice to add to title "bump" in parentheses for old threads.
Um...as someone who doesn't live in Houston anymore (DC), and as someone who took last year's offseason extremely hard, this was the first year I didn't buy league pass. Serves me right for doubting my team; we end up having the best season since our last championship. So I didn't see as much of DMo as I have in the previous years. I know I shouldn't get too excited by highlights, but wow. DMo is finally realizing his potential (and right before his free agent years). This guy is special; what a good scorer and passer, and what great body control and ball handling for a 7 footer. Thanks for posting this. I'm gonna sign up for the DMo fan club. #5 looked like a white version of Dream.
I wonder how many other ~7footers are making behind the back no look passes in this league? Marc Gasol, I think. Who else?
Meh, that highlight made by some fan who missed lots of good plays. This is why we don't need LMA, Bosh, Love or any other PF. We have our own Motielajuwon...
It's clear that D-Mo has really taken McHale's tutelage to heart. I don't know how many of you remember watching McHale in his playing days, but watching D-Mo now, there are some obvious similarities. Now McHale was lankier, more awkward-looking, much longer arms (at least to my memory) which gave him an even bigger advantage with all of those twisting, duck-and-under moves. But D-Mo has an outside shot that McHale never had (or at least never really used), and so, really, if Motiejunas comes back healthy, we have our clear PF moving forward. The real question for me is, what exactly is/was the injury to his back? The Rockets have been extremely tight-lipped about this whole thing, and it makes me nervous. Is he going to be ready for the start of training camp?
