Yeah with Dorsey, I think optimally you trade him, but Its hard to see a team wanting to take on even his million dollar salary unless they are being taken care of on something else. You might even have to do a deal like Johnson & Dorsey for a 2nd rounder (that might never be conveyed) type of deal. More than likely I think Dorsey ends up staying on the roster and being waived in training camp. If they really are operating over the cap then it really doesn't matter. Just waive him in camp to make room for other players to get minutes and make the team. ...... Reg MLE targets... Maybe Rondo (ugh), Aminu, Reggie Jackson (wishful thinking), Koufos (not likely), Cory Joseph... If the Rockets were in the hunt for a backup 5 it would be smart to look at using that for a backup 5, but I think they they have hope in Capela, and going smaller with the dual 4 lineups. With so many free agents out there you just never really know who could fall once the money dries up so you just don't really know whose going to be available. If somebody like Reggie Jackson takes forever to get signed, and his price tag drops in the 5 to 8 range, would a player like that be willing to take a one year deal with a player option next year to sign with the Rockets? I think Morey is open to that possibility, but its more than likely that Llull is the guy they target first once they are established as for sure over the cap with other spots set.
Good points, only one problem, you give Portland too much leverage. If LMA says he's going to Houston regardless then Portland have to take back whatever they can get to a certain extent. Of course LMA will want close to max money therefore there will be players involved, but Portland doesn't necessarily get to pick and choose anyone they want if they're losing LMA anyway.
I hope we can end up with some guard upgrades that include a three point specialist and a playmaker. If everyone stays healthy, I really think that is all we need but for some reason that doesn't seem like the priority. But hey Morey has gotten us this far so if he wants to trade half the team for Aldridge, who am I to say it won't work. An NBA GM, I am not!
They'll definitely ask for D-Mo. But I'd refuse to give him up. As badly as I'd like to get a player as good as Bledsoe, we have to have a reliable postup threat.
Once again this thread has become the catch all dumpster for every random bit of news that has nothing to do with Cyber.
morey woulndt give up dmo for dragic so the reports stated. why would he give up dmo for bledsoe? i think morey was trying to push jones on suns for dragic.
I thought the same but Dragic was a FA-to-be [and reportedly didn't want to be here]. Bledsoe is still locked up for another 4 years(?). No idea if they'd still give him up.
Its sort of what the Random Trade Thread is intended to be. problem with the RTT is that the trade scenarios and discussions are so ridiculous people just don't even bother going there. posters seem to gravitate towards this thread because if it gets discussed by quality posters or better yet, an insider to Cyber, than it becomes way more interesting. Might be way overdue to re-tool the Random Trade Thread or re-purpose it to drive trade, and free agency speculation.
I hope Llull will come for the Full MLE, although I have my doubts about him coming to the NBA. A remote possibility might be the return of Jeremy Lin for a 3yr contract. I don't want him back in Houston. He isn't useless, but he is not a good fit for us. He did show some flashes of improved play in the playoffs against Portland, but his inconsistent play and mental fragility is troublesome. He had a bad year in LA, which makes things worse.
I don't want Bledsoe at all. He cannot do anything at all on offense without dominating the ball, which is a recipe for disaster with two other more efficient stars. He's injury prone, which is a recipe for disaster when you are adding a 3rd big salary. He's a high TO player, which is a recipe for disaster with two other high TO players as key cogs. He has been and can be great defensively but no better than Beverley has been in the past and easily can be again. Bledsoe would be great off the bench tearing up other team's second units, but over here for 30+ minutes a game when James Harden and Dwight Howard are on the floor, he is worth half his salary IMO. I would rather re-sign our guys and try to pick up an undervalued FA and wait till next summer or all star break to make a change. If we reach mid season and the team is not replicating last season's success, I would then consider it. There's nothing about him which makes me worried that we're passing up a big opportunity. Players of that calibre are available relatively often.
Well Bledsoe is a very interesting possibility. On the bright side, he is exceptional in the open court, can create for himself and for other players. Although he is only 6'1", he is capable of guarding PG & SG. He gets to the line and played 81 games last year. He is only 25 years old and his 5/70 contract will not be a major cap killer under the new salary cap expansion. On the other hand, he is yet another mediocre 3 point shooter. He is turnover prone, do you want a back court that will average 8-10 turnovers a GAME? He has had issues staying healthy in the past. Has his athleticism started to fade? He did not look quite as good defensively this last season either. The Suns are not going to just give him away, there will be teams that will make strong offers for him. You better believe teams like Philly and Boston are going to throw draft picks at Phoenix.
I don't think his athleticism is fading, I just think that he played with more patients and let the game come to him last season to preserve his body. Before last season, he was like a running back running into defenders and getting knocked around that caused injuries. + if Morey can put confidence and demand 1000 3 point makes every day from Josh Smith, why not Bledsoe?
I think the Rockets do want him Lin back. Seeing as now they probably view him again as an undervalued player if they assume he only get vet min contract offers. The fact is Jeremy attacks the basket, and he has improved slightly as a 3 point shooter. Despite the fact that he's a mental midget with confidence issues, analytically he fits a need for this team But at what cost???... I certainly can't begin to comprehend. Obviously 5 - 8 mil a year was too much for the Rockets to live with so they traded him to create cap space to go bigger or go for other options which ended up being Corey Brewer. So if they think that way, then what they offer Corey Brewer SHOULD far exceed what they offer Jeremy Lin to return.... again. I'm not waiting around for Jeremy, and I doubt the Rockets put high priority on him too. More than likely they are interested, but he's option X, Y, or Z. I think another team like the Mavs take a gamble on him on a slightly higher than vet min contract. A team that has the BAE to offer kind of seems perfect. I think the Nets would be an interesting Lin team. They need someone... anyone to push the tempo for them a bit. Maybe the Kings and George Karl's uptempo system would be a good fit for him too. I dunno, but Jeremy Lin to the Rockets... He'd have to be pretty desperate, and virtually every team in the league would have to pass on him. SOMEONE will take a swipe at him at that BAE level. I wouldn't worry about it if I'm a Rockets fan who just can't stomach him dribbling the ball out of bounds or having an 5 turnover quarter.
