Why would Los Angeles want Aldridge? They're one of the worst teams in the league. He's not a young guy you build a team around. He's an all-star vet a team brings in to get over the hump.

If he was such a quiet man why leave portland in the first place. But the conflicts about him wanting to be the man have come out. He wanst to have HIS team. Not lillards who gets all the commercials and the fame. Also as i said la wont rebuild for long. Maybe they wont make the playoffs this year but by next they are adding another star at least.

Im not a lakers fan. I dnt like it that the lakers are always ttaking advantage of other teams and the legions of their bandwagoning fans. But its the way of the world. Already fegan and cousins trying/ tried to push his way there. The only thing the cba can do is protect teams with restricted agents and with not so big pockets. But noone can protect vs the huge market the exposure the hollywood and the agents.

How do you know they will be adding a star after next season?

I agree LMA is probably not going to LA. But we can never be sure. I find it interesting that Partland traded away Batum and Ariza could fill that opening. Unfortunately Portland would probably want D-Mo, Capela, filler, both the Rockets draft picks and maybe more.

I honestly do not see LMA taking a one year reduced priced contract from Houston. If his wrist/hand injury had been more severe he would have been done for the year well before the playoffs. One ACL or Achilles tear and he might be done in the NBA. Risk/reward.

Probably the highest probability landing spot for LMA is SA. Get Duncan to come back for some minimal salary, release a couple of RFA's and then offer him $19M/year for four years. Four years is probably to long, since LMA is on the other side of 30 right now, but he would make SA into a juggernaut. If LMA wants a title then just signing with SA is his best option.

The Lakers haven't been blowing anybody away with their cleverness and foresight in the post Jerry Buss era. I would be more surprised if they made the smartest, most logical decision than if they didnt. Going after a guy that has passed the top of the peak in his career trajectory is exactly what I'd expect them to do. Baby Buss probably thinks LMA and Grandpa Kobe will carry them to the finals next year.

This is pretty clearly not the same Lakers organization that got over on the entire league every year in decades past. Most of the aura that they were always handed anything they wanted on a silver platter came from the fact that Jerry Buss set it up that way.

I can see Cousins wanting to be a Laker more than I can see Aldridge doing so.

First, Cousins is younger than Aldridge. So, "waiting a year (or two) before the Lakers build a contender around you" is likely a more appealing pitch to Cousins than it is to Aldridge.

Second, Cousins doesn't have as many options as Aldridge does because Cousins is under contract for 3 more years to Sacramento. Whereas Aldridge has the options of moving to a ready-made contender like San Antonio or Houston, Cousins doesn't have these options.

Cousin has to look for a team that has ability and willingness to move a valuable trade asset to entice Sacramento. The best that he can do is probably a team like the Lakers-- a currently crappy team (so they have a high draft pick to trade) but in an attractive market and has a good history of success.

That team is still Kobe's and it will be De'Angelo's after that. Make no mistake LMA will not get a bigger billing than De'Angelo. And he is leaving Portland because he wants to be close to family. LA doesn't meet that criteria. LA is just a stupid option. I will say that proposal someone made earlier for Green and splitter could work for Portland and it would allow the Spurs to bring a lot of people back and still be contenders. So that may be his real goal. But IMO he won't end up in LA.

Didnt you see cybers post about wanting to get durant next summer? Liek the will give the keys to the team to a rookie. If they can get a star he will be the leader. And i find it hard to believe that the primary reason lma left portland was family. Maybe it will be a reason for choosing his next destination but it wasnt the cause as it wont be the first criteria.

The credibility of the source on that Lin report seems suspect. Reddit citing "Master Herald" citing "Christian Today"?

I don't doubt that a number of teams have interest in Lin and wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets would make him an offer as long as the money is low and does not affect their ability to pursue bigger targets. But I wouldn't believe that this is the case just because these particular sources say so.

Jeremy Lin would be stupid to sign here especially after the whole Melo/Jersey swap thing.

We'd look so desperate if we signed him.

It's a bad deal for both sides. Even at the vet min.

I am going to state again. That LMA at 30 is not going to want to be the "guy" on a team. I am still going to say that LMA goes to the Rockets or Spurs. The Lakers are a mess right now they will not attract players until their FO gets into order.
