You cant make your plans revolved around durant. Noone knows what can happen in one year. Maybe okc winw the championship and durant resigns. Maybe he gets seriously injured on his foot again and cant play. Maybe he asks out midseason and okc gives him to someone else who has insurance he will resign with them. And in the end maybe he chooses someone else and not the rockets. Lol that offer isnt worth dmc. Randle and russell are rookies who have proved nothing. Both could be major busts .
I don't see Durant going to LA no matter who they sign this summer. He's in win now mode. Aldridge/Love and some rookies ain't enough for the West.
What I don't understand is why would LMA leave Portland (where he's will be all all-time iconic franchise guy) for LA, where they have been tanking the last two years. It's not about going somewhere to be "the" franchise guy because he has that in Portland. It's not about the money unless Portland is asking him to take a pay cut or is moving in another direction. Assuming that Portland wants to keep him I don't see how LAL is a clearer path to winning now.
@BleacherReport: Kevin Love reportedly indicates to the @cavs that he plans to return next season http://t.co/H7DCGcXUH7 http://t.co/qYg0hDj8DL
They're essentially asking for two lottery picks plus clarkson showed a whole lot of promise down the stretch last year. They'd be gutting the team even more than it already is gutted. They'd be DMC and Jeremy Lin and the ghost of Kobe.
Why would a star want to go to the lakers? Because you have famous hollywood in the sidelines every night everyone watching you you get money from tv ads and commercials and you become a celebrity. Plus other stars are dying to join you and you can compete for championships. If you think that the lakers will keep all the rookies and have a rebuild you are deluded. They just want to add ONE star this year and next year when kobe contract goes off the book and with the cap rise they can add two more.
two lottery picks for dmc is a low ball offer. Esp since randle has only three years in his rookie contract left and comes off an injury. Clarkson doesnt know what defence is. my guess why they denied? Because they either will go after dj or because they will pressure vi ek to accept a lower price. These trades dont happen predraft anyway. About august or late july.
The LMA going to LA does not make sense. Why would LMA want to be in a worst situation than he is in now? He should just stay in Portland than go to LA. I get it that after next year LA could attract more stars after Kobe retires. People forget that they do not have a real coach though.
Couldn't we just sign Aldridge to a one year contract for 10-12 million so we don't give up Ariza or DMo, with a guarantee that we sign him to a max next year?
How 'bout the entertainment value of Kobe doing Boogie as he did Dwight? And then, somehow, Kobe won the narrative v DH. How??? Boogie v Kobe would be the match made for all to sit back and watch!
Just dropping in to say, that all the people saying Golden State was not the best team this year are being ridiculous. 66 wins is historically good. Yes, they were healthier than most teams all season, and while that can have some degree of luck, staying healthy is also part of simply being a good team. Hopefully next year it's another story, but the Warriors had the best players, the best coaching, and the best overall season, hence the best team.
The coach is the least of the problems. Just fire him and hire someone else. Like mark jackson or thibs. The biggest issue with lma is that he would never accept to join a team that will have him playing primarilly center. So the lakers to add him must get also a center. But they dint have the capspace to add both lma and a max center.
I agree that LMA would not want to play C at this stage in his career. I believe Thibs would be better coach than Jackson. I would like to get Mark Jackson off commenting on ABC though.
And how many people thought it was crazy to give up all our assets to get some young 6th man from another team? It's always easy to build from stars even if you have nothing else. And the Lakers can certainly attract FAs as long as they have some sort of core in place. My guess is that they passed on the offer more because of cap room. Trading for Cousins would make it difficult for them to offer max in FA due to Kobe's contract.
