The thing about Hinkie's tanking strategy is that a part of the calculation is that not every draft pick, even if they are high draft picks and you work very hard to make the right choice, is gonna pan out. Some are gonna bust, others are gonna be decent but not really franchise players. This risk for failure is why Hinkie is committed to tanking multiple years. You need multiple draft picks to actually find that franchise player or collect enough assets to trade for one. Yeah, the Embiid injury was a risk, but so are all of the other potential draftees every year-- both in terms of health and in terms of just not being very good. Who knows how Embiid is gonna turn out, but even if he fails Hinkie might not have made an unwise choice.
Really wanna watch this guy play, hope he gets healthy. A center with some moves and maybe even a nice long range jumper(granted we havent seen it in game yet). He'd be a fun player to watch.
Well he missed out on the 3 best players in that 2013 draft....Giannis, Schroder and Gobert for starters are likely going to make many all star teams in the future. Gobert is on his way to being perhaps the best center in the NBA. 2013 draft will forever be remembered as one dominated by foreign players....even guys like Alex Len, Olynyk, Steven Adams and Dieng have all showed flashes of promise over the Americans in that draft class.
He plays bball for 3 years and has been injured half the time. Pre draft there had been concerns about his african diet and hepatitis affecting his bone density. Now he cant heal properly. Well anyway get well soon jojo. Hope he manages to avoid surgery smh.
WTF? How did Serge Ibaka's diet affect his bone density? What about Giannis?(Don't kid yourself about what food he eats at home, his mother isn't Greek). What about Clint Capela? Biyombo? How did their "African diet" affect their bone density? Where did you hear or read this? Pls explain.

not to pull a danny ferry here but what i posted about the diet came from the scouting reports pre draft. I have a south african friend and i asked him and he said they dont eat almost no dairy and very little meat in central africa. So for some (ibaka) it may not matter but embiid in his pre draft exams showed low bone density and the scouts said it can be from his diet. Understand? clint capella and giannis grew up in europe. (Dont know about bizz). In europe we eat milk every day for breakfast.
Understood that you got what you posted from a scouting report predraft(reports-plural? I'd like to see some of these if you can still find any). (edit- I found something about it- from Chad Ford. Not an actual scouting report but from when he appeared on the BS Report. If you can find an actual scouting report saying those things then please post the link. Ford is a dip****. He said " It's not uncommon for athletes who grew up in Africa to test positive for hepatitis, for example. And something that has to do with diet; not uncommon for there to be anemic issues and things like that..."). It's not uncommon? So basically he's saying it's been a common occurrence for a number of the athletes that grew up in Africa. Yeah no. He's an idiot. Especially seeing as he makes it sound as if Africa is just a big homogeneous country. Your South African friend told you what they eat in Central Africa? It'd probably be best for you to confirm with someone actually from Central Africa or in Embiid's case- West Africa before mentioning that to any Africans you encounter. Milk is readily available and sold in many countries in Central and West Africa. Capella and Giannis grew up in Europe but have African mothers and fathers. I'd wager their meals consisted of a greater ratio of African food to European food. Perhaps seeing as Capella has a mother from Central Africa, maybe milk wasn't a main factor in his diet(despite the fact that in Europe, you eat milk every day for breakfast-as you mentioned) since your South African friend vouches for Central Africans barely consuming any milk.
No dairy and no meat? Are they all vegans in central africa? Seems kind of hard to believe this has anything to do with his diet, Embiid already lives in the US a single cheese burger should give him enough dairy and protein
so i checked the wikipedia page on cameroonian cuisine and it says that chimpanzee is increasingly on the menu, along with a healthy dose of insects. these would meat the recommended daily allowance for protein, rite?
I will see what i can do regarding the reports. Yup he said that. That most of the diet is vegetarian. Its not about vouching or anything i just asked him lol a few days ago maybe hes wrong maybe he isnt. I dont know about a capella. I do know tho and for this i can at least vouch for myself lol that in athens its much cheaper to buy milk than to buy ingredients to cook african foods. And being a poor family that lived in the early crisis period they got a lot of the food from the church. And that includes 100% guaranteed a lot of milk. Bone density is affected a lot besides genetics by diet in child and teenage years. Embiid didnt spend most of his childhood and teenage years in usa. I have the impression that im being painted as some kind of racist here or whatever. Its not. Im just repeating what scouts and team officials said at the draft time. His bone density wasnt good and so wasnt his blood tests. Both of those were in part said to be from his background history and that includes his diet. His camp and agent tried to keep his health reports hidden and the bucks had to buy them in "black market" from the cavs. When they did they chose parker over him or rather it reinforced their decision. It was the subject of much debate and fan "fights" in the bucks forum since most of us wanted embiid back then.
Black Market? What do you mean Black market? Anyways...I kid. Lol at people getting sensitive for the African diet comment.
Lol. Many teams during draft buy "in secret" from each other medical files of prospects. Its a kind of black market because the agents and their camps dont shate them with every team. Btw embiid has grown to 7'2 on sandals. we will know if he has surgery this week.
