Relax... they're nipping it in the bud right now, hence why they're sending him down.

Really no place on this team for that sort of immaturity... if other guys feel that there is, they need to grow up as well. (they've already shown they're not afraid to get rid of "talented" malcontents like Cosart).

Unfortunately, young teams go through this sort of thing... there's no Biggio/Bagwell there to police the clubhouse. Right now, its up to Hinch and maybe Castro.

Wouldn't surprise me if Correa, at 20, becomes this team's clubhouse leader by season's end. He already showed flashes of that at the other levels (being a commanding presence in the clubhouse and cherishing the "team leader" role).

I heard North Korea is nice this time of year. You should check it out, you might find their government right in line with your views.

We're talking about a sports team, not a country.

Teams are about as anti-democratic as they come. Stars and talented players do get preferential treatment, but they're also expected to lead by example (they're also usually the highest paid as well).

You're talking about the strike 3 call during the midst of the 7 game losing streak two weeks ago, right?

Also, how is that anything close to what Oberhotlzer did today??

Your example also further fuels my point of how young this team is without any real clubhouse mature presence, other than the manager.

Anyways, this really shouldn't be an issue for major worry from a team chemistry point of view (if you even believe that exists in baseball... Some of the best teams ever featured teammates that hated one another, and personalities that constantly clashed).

If Obie's demotion is because of today, then I think the team is overreacting. Athletes are not robots. He was frustrated. I'm not exactly big on Obie and think he is a 4 or 5 in a contending team's rotation at the most, but I hope the organization doesn't get ahead of themselves and start overreacting.

Overreacting would have been DFA'ing him.

i also think this action is more severe because Oberhotlzer basically admitted that he threw at a player out of frustration.

If the roles were reversed, and somebody threw at Correa simply because he was getting rocked, I'd be furious.

I missed where he admitted to throwing at Arod. Oh well, I just hope the team doesn't start overreacting just because players get frustrated and show emotion. No I don't believe in intentionally harming other players, but pitching inside is a right of the pitcher and they shouldn't feel afraid to do it.

Would Obie's next start fall on a day off? Maybe they're killing two birds...send a message but also keep him in his regular turn in the rotation. If they're happy with how he responds, bring him back up in 2 weeks. Just a thought

Why would the y DFA him, when they know they can get something for him? Overreacting is not the right descriptor for sending him down, EXCESSIVE is. How does a player feel if he knows the org doesnt have his back through good and bad? Id be pissed.

It doesnt matter who gets thrown at, Id still be furious, just more protective of Correa. The beginning of the season; Yanks couldnt wait to get rid of A-Roid, now hes a god again? Fugg that.

The team doesn't want to stretch their luck by putting Hernandez back in the rotation. Let him stay in the pen for long relief/spot appearances.

I think that's entirely reasonable and definitely a possibility.

Other than today, he has pitched well enough to stay in the rotation. I'm pretty sure he'll get his spot back before too long

Of course... even if his demotion didn't happen to come during an off-day, nobody suggested this was a long-term "exile".

He has struggled big time in 2 of the last 3 games.

Now, Probably a reliever next, and then, when the spot is open, Straily should be next man up.

Oberholtzer doesn't appear to be an ******* (or at least, I haven't heard anything that would suggest that he is an *******) so this is probably a case of "he had a crappy day at work and let his frustration get the better of him."

That being said, his behavior shouldn't be tolerated anywhere in the organization.

I think what he did was necessary. This team hasnt had someone with the balls to pitch inside and push a guy back. Whole bunch of p*****s playing now a days. Nolan Ryan hit many people on purpose are you saying he isnt professional or should have been sent to the minors. Hitters go up there and just hack and hack and been doing it for years against the Astros. And now that Hinch said what he said every hitter knows that we wont be pitching inside this year so go ahead and hack and hack away. Whole bunch of vaginas. Ridiculous
