I didn't propose that, and that wasn't the case before this ruling anyway.

    :confused::confused::confused:

You do understand this is a flagrant violation of the rule of law in the United States, right?

Is that the best you have, drown me in ridicule, Stewart/Colbert style? It's a waste of time.

How was that not the case before this ruling? The government telling one of its citizens that it can't marry another of its citizens is exactly that. You won't find a libertarian that is against this ruling.

I didn't express an opinion on the matter, just posting news to encourage a more informed discussion.

Do you think that someone should be able to marry several people?

This is my feeling, but do you feel the same way if a Church says they will not marry a bi racial couple? What if a church says they will not marry anyone that is black or Mexican?

Some people respect that, and others feel strongly that a Church should have to marry them.

    lol

well seeing as how you haven't responded to any of the legal opinions and arguments, broad societal acceptance of same-sex marriage, and seeing how you've betrayed a fundamental misunderstanding of how the law works in the United States, I'd say engaging you in any sort of debate is a waste of time.

somebody here said something along the lines of "You need some Advils and some chillage", I concur with that opinion as well

right, you spend the entire time decrying rule of men over rule of laws, and you don't want to call out somebody who says state law trumps federal law?:confused::confused:

Totally different situation, no one is allowed to marry multiple people.

They could marry, it just wouldn't be recognized by the state.

If two gay people want to find a private church to marry them, that's always been legal.

People have different ideas about what marriage is. When you make marriage public, you force everyone to comply with a single definition.

A peaceful solution is to keep the state out of it, and you are free to say you are married to whomever/whatever you want, and people are free to recognize it, or not.

It speaks poorly of the people if they feel the state need's to bless their lifestyle for it to be legitimate.

Because by definition, conservatives aren't the most original people in the world.

The state not recognizing their marriage is a blatant violation of the equal protection clause that is part of the 14th amendment. Either you care about the constitution, or you don't. You can't pick and choose when you want to back it.

Also, let's not get it twisted marriage is a legal contract, it has nothing to do with religion.

a good argument for removing those benefits, as the state should not incentivize particular lifestyle choices

Aside from so called incentives, the marriage contract is an easy legal construct for defining inheritance, power of attorney, debt responsibility, etc.

Doing away with marriage and making all of this stuff more complicated just to avoid watching gay people get married is absurd.
