Lets assume we add the following players to our roster. Who do we cut or not re-sign to make room for them?

    Dekker
    Harrell
    Lull or other PG
    Scola

I assume Paps is goner because of his contract but who else?

    Nick Johnson?
    Prigs?
    Dorsey?
    KJ?
    Brewer?
    Terry?

Dorsey, KPap are for sure gone, expensive and redundant.

Bev swapped with Llull. I would like to keep one of Terry or Prigs but I don't think you keep both.

Dekker and Harrell could start the season on the D-League. I think the team still tries to get backups for Ariza in FA.

We cant afford kj. Papa will get traded. Prigs will retire. Its a debate if we can keep brewer and smith. So the roster spots arent a problem at all atm. Regardless if jones is traded or not.

They still take up a roster spot regardless of where they play.

If we can't "afford" KJ we don't let brewer walk, it's one of the two stays while let the other walk. Depending on their contracts I see both of them back.

Right but you could have Brewer and Smith or Jones on the team and on the active roster at the same time.

No. Its between llull smith and kj coz they all will be paid from the same pot of money. The mle. Its not between kj and brew. Brew could leave and if llull comes over kj will be goner regardless.

I don't understand your point. The question I posed is who do we get rid of from our current 15 person roster to make room for those 4 players that we will likely add.

Smith doesn't have to come from the MLE if he excepts 2 million dollars again.

My guess is Dorsey is gone for sure. Papa is gone. Brewer is very possibly gone with the Dekker pick. Jones traded if we can.

I would prefer Terry over Prigs as we need the shooting. But keep prigs if that gives Llull some warm and fuzzy. Even then I would still like Terry on the cheap. Smith. 50/50 he is gone. I can't read him. Does he want $$ or does he want happiness. In his head only he knows.

These changes are very clear :

Prig - zero sense to keep him, will try to trade his contract, if not, buy out.
Papa - zero chance to keep him, trade him or just waive him.
Dorsey - now that Harrell had been drafted, unlese Harrell is playing like crap or got hurt, just cut Dorsey at the camp, doubt anyone will take his contract.

Not sure but high chance will be gone :

KJ - did not show much to convince the Rox to offer him a good contract, let other teams to take a chance on him.
Terry - too old, not sure if he will stay for a min contract, which is what he worth now.

So, if we will have 5 spots open and added 2 rooks.

that means we will have 3 more spots open.

Assume Llull is coming and we keep all other guys like last year, we will be looking at :

    PG : Bev, Llull, Johnson
    SG : Harden, Brewer
    SF : Ariza, Dekker
PF : Dmo, Josh, Harrell, TJ*
    C : Dwight, Capela

I would say we look pretty good at front court and weak at SG/PG, with 2 spots open, free agent focus will be to find a good decent pure shooter at the 2, and a vet PG backup.

Trading TJ will be a good idea if we will be for sure to keep Josh, but if we let Josh walk, keeping him for his final year may not be a bad idea also.

If we will trade TJ, assuming not involving in a mega deal to over haul the lineup, then we can take the best players available or even a future draft pick is OK,

assuming we must address the 3 pt shooter issue in FA market.

I know for sure that Harden, Dwight, DMo, and Capela are safe. As for the rest? No idea.

i'm not talking about Smith. we all know josh won't be brought back unless its for peanuts. as far KJ and Brew. I find it hard that morey just traded for KJ to let him walk without getting any value in return and while brew wants to stay but again, depending on the offers he gets we should match if it won't hurt our flexibility.
