Geezus you are hypercritical. I thought the guy seemed very well spoken for an athlete in a public interview. He knew how to give back some of his personality without saying stupid stuff that could get him in trouble, and give some banter back. The guy follows the freaking Astros, and is a huge JJ Watt fan for crying out loud. How is that "talking too much" on a Houston local interview. I think what he said was smart, and he genuinely seemed excited while most of the time lottery level talented players that fall back that far would give you canned answers and you can tell they are secretly upset that they didn't go higher. As long as he knows PT isn't going to come on day 1, and he might have to play at least the first half of the season in the Valley he will be fine. He'll be fine.
Wow we gonna judge now from an interview like that? The guy hasnt even stepped a foot in an nba court yet.
I don't like him but most of that is because they beat arizona and he was a bit of a whinny flopper, but i guess he will fit in well with the rest of the NBA. I have some reservations about his athleticism at the nba level especially since Stanley Johnson completely shut him down in the tourney...but then again, Stanley is a beast, so go figure. It is a safe pick i suppose. At the least he can be a bench contributor with potential to be a solid rotation guy due to his versatility. Not all that bad for a midrounder i suppose.
Yeah, a real zinger from Carl! Glad Clutch picked up on that one. Hey, I really like the pick. I like our 2nd round pick, as well. Draft Express had Dekker and Harrell ranked 2nd and 3rd behind Cauley-Stein as the top 3 juniors in this draft. Both fit our style of play very, very well. Since we didn't draft a point, a surprise to most of us here, it tells me that my guy from the Islands off the coast of Spain is coming here at last, Sergio Llull. An alternative is that we have a trade for a vet NBA point lined up, and I guess Morey might be able to pull off both. Could be that we end up with Bev and Llull, and let them battle for the starting position during the season. Sounds ideal to me. Didn't vote in the poll, since it isn't public (don't vote in non-public polls unless Clutch starts them), but my vote here is, "Nice pick!" I'll add this. If we keep Smith, I can see Dekker slamming down some of those little lobs around the basket from Josh. Sweet!
I like the pick. Nothing too exciting about him but looks like he can be a solid role player. I hope we play him more at the 3 spot off the bench rather than the 4.
what game were you watching??? sam dekker against arizona completely destroyed them. he dropped 5/6 from 3's and put up 27pts going 8-11 fgs. stanley johnson completely shut him down? Nope
Chase is a better volleyball player, Dekker is more of a bad ass, take no prisoners kind of guy. I guess my answer is, beats me!

guess he's excited as he didnt get drafted by a lottery team. if he wants to win in the nba, houston is clearly a shorter path to triumph for him. that's what he meant by "best case".
The more I read/hear about him, the more the Ariza comparison makes sense. I can see him growing into a glue guy
Sam Dekker's GF: Spoiler Apparently a hell of an athlete, pre-med and works with kids in special circumstances. Guy has a winner on his arm. Pretty, smart, athletic and socially conscious. Good judgment on his part.
