We got a guy who was widely projected to go in the lottery at 18, and we got a guy widely projected to go in the 20's at 32. Sounds like a solid A to me.
PG choices were not that great. I'm glad we didn't reach. I don't know much about the players but so far it seems like a solid B draft. I like Dekker, not so much Johnson as a tweener PF but I've wrong before (Carl Landry comes to mind.)
Seems like Rockets went BPA with both picks. Only somewhat surprising cuz now they'll almost definitely have to dip into the MLE to sign Harrell. And I'm sure Llull wants the entire MLE.
B+ Now let's develop these guys. They will either contribute or contribute and then get traded, or get traded.
maybe wait till the guys set foot on a floor, there was like 3 sure things in this draft and not much else so you just have to rely on your coaches to develop and see if they fit in. You can never grade picks until they play
Sheeeeeit...... I like it. If they can get Llull over to the US, they win the off season game at least. They can still make a solid trade with pieces they have too. I'm not mad.
No need to grade drafts immediately. Leave that to Mel Kiper. Sorry, very, very unlikely a rookie PG was going to come in and start or even see significant minutes. Dekker and Harrell (if they're still around) are probably going to spend most of the year in the D-League.
People still don't see the pattern here? Morey takes BPA (in his mind) EVERYTIME! He does not deviate from this at ALL! He cares nothing about need because he assumes he can address need through trade.
Good draft. Glad we didn't draft a PG, Jones look liked a bust, none of the others looked any good either outside of Russel, Mudiay and Payne.
Many see Dekker being in the D-League for majority of the season, but I think he'll be involved in the rotation early on. If Brewer isn't resigned, then I can easily see McHale using Dekker in the same role as he did Parsons in his respective rookie year. Dekker has a high basketball IQ and is capable of making a few plays here and there throughout a game. He plays hard on defense, can slash to the rim, can finish in transition and those are skills that are important to our style of play. I honestly think he can contribute from Day 1.
