What you say about September make more sense for a role player, but Lawson is the type of player you get and then fit out the rest of your team around. While this may not fully apply to the Rockets, whose MLE money seems destined for Llull if we don't clear cap for Love/LMA, from Denver's perspective the suitors are much more likely to pony up now as opposed to after FA and they already made other plans. Trade deadline is definitely a possibility though. But if they're going to move on from him, then no need to risk him being moody for half a season and play like crap to kill his value.
