This would most likely be Carter then. Only two more years of team control, and he's 28 years old. Gattis is 28, but has 3 more years team control. Singleton is signed, sealed and delivered for six more years (including team options), and importantly, he's only 23. It would be a surprise to see Singleton traded unless it was a really good deal. Luhnow is likely planning to give him a couple years to sort things out in the big leagues. I could see either Carter or Gattis being gone soon, but Luhnow might decide to hold Carter through the end of the year and trade him then.
Singleton has the highest trade value out of the three...so I would think that it would be Singleton that is gone in a deal...because teams probably have very little interest in the other two knuckleheads.
Astros need to start making trades with the DBacks. DBacks want MLB ready talent and Astros have a backlog of guys that will need to be on 40-man in offseason that are potential MLB ready talent.
That would be nice... however, you do know the guy in charge of the Dbacks didn't really get along with the guy in charge of the Astros back in the Cardinals days (hell, he could have helped orchestrate "hack-gate!" for all we know).
it would never happen, so it's not in the consideration set. Out of all remotely plausible scenarios, I wouldn't accept any multi-player offer for Correa
As much as he isn't liked by a lot of CF posters, Gattis is 28 years old and on pace to hit 28 HR and drive in 95 runs, in what is the worst season for him in his career. He has trade value, thankfully Luhnow is very unlikely to seek to trade him right now though
Like I said at the beginning. Nobody is 100% off limits, but nobody is going to pay their price. We weren't talking about things people would actually offer. Most deals that would make sense would be deals neither team would do.
If we want to leave mamby pamby land and come into reality a bit Correa, Springer, Keuchel certainly aren't getting traded anywhere McCullers, McHugh, Altuve very very unlikely to be going anywhere, very unlikely Of the trio of Gattis, Carter, Singleton, i'd say Jon is most likely to be moved and Gattis least likely, but I do think one of them gets moved by the deadline Tucker is probably safe from getting moved, since we drafted his brother. That probably shouldn't matter, but i'm guessing to a big it does Velasquez is probably more likely to be moved that most think, if they could get a great value on him in a deal I bet they would move on it, with his injury history
Velasquez is nearly untradeable with his injury history. Astros have more information on him than any other team and have proven themselves to be able to pick up at least one injury before it happened. Very little chance that another team takes a chance on him even with a thorough physical.
I disagree. Im sure there are certainly teams that wouldn't value him highly because of that injury history, but there are plenty who see the high upside arm and would be more than willing to take a chance on a potential front of the rotation starter. A lot of teams when dealing for prospects or drafting them, would rather take a chance on high upside as opposed to less upside but a more likely chance the player becomes an average big league player.
If Luhnow asks another team about trading VV, all the other teams, no matter how much they love upside, is going to hear "I have been requested by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, I mean Astros to contact you for assistance in resolving a matter. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company, I mean Astros has recently concluded a large number of contracts for top level pitchers. The contracts have immediately produced moneys equaling US$40,000,000. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company, I mean Astros, is desirous of pitching prospects, however, because of certain Rule 5 regulations of the MLB, it is unable to keep these players in the minors. We would like to trade you Velasquez for Cueto."
semantics I guess. I think that's 100% off limits. It's like "if someone built a spaceship that I could afford, found a way to build a livable space dwelling, and got a reasonable job for me up there--it might happen." I consider that "I'm 100% never going to living on Mars in my lifetime." Though some might say there's a chance, but the things that need to happen aren't likely to happen.

I was against going after Cueto earlier in the year cause as a rental I didn't want to give up assets With us continuing to lead the pack and have awesome depth in the system, let's make it happen. Him and Dallas could make us formidable in the playoffs
Yeah, they can't waste the golden opportunity they have this year... they have plenty enough prospects to make a deal, and I don't think this organization is worried about rental-only players (and there's nothing to say that they won't make a hard push to re-sign him if they feel he's an important piece going forward).
@pgammo: Buzz through 'Stros organization on a potential Scott Kazmir deal ...whatever that means. Dude is too old to be tweeting.
