If Gay and Cousins both go to the Lakers and they sign Love, the lakers will have the funniest front court last names when combined in the whole league.
For Cousins.... Lakers need to get rid of Randle, #2 pick, fillers for Cousins.... Or else league should veto.
I liked him a lot a few years ago, but I am not keen on offering him a multi- year contract now. The only way this could happen is in a S/T. I don't think K-Pap, Prigioni, Nick or the 32nd pick will be enough for Bird. The Rockets should not give up the 18th pick, or Jones or D-Mo for him. Don't give up Capela either.
Perhaps he interested in singing a MLE for a championship run. It would be funny if we got West with the MLE and then signed Scola with vet min, stealing Indiana's PF rotation. It would give us the flexibility to trade Jones AND Motiejunas, while letting Smith walk(or not if he excepts 2.5 mill). PG: Beverley SG: Harden / Terry SF: Ariza / Brewer PF: West / Scola (Smith) C: Howard / Capela Giving us a package of Motie, Jones, 18th, 32nd, rights to Llull and future picks to trade for a quality point or roster depth.
You'd want to keep DMo to start over both West and Scola. Going with West and Scola would be a worse PF rotation than we had last year.
I would take David west over every pf on our roster this past season. He's been deep in the playoffs for a contender, is tough enforcer type and can hit the mid range and play defense. He's not the best rebounder but neither is any of our current group of PFs. He really would help our team a lot if he could be had for 6-7 mil over 3 years.
So if LA Lakers want to trade for Cousins and sign Love they almost certainly have to: -do the trade first -Waive or include Jordan Hill in trade -include Randle and Kelly in order to clear almost exactly the salary needed to take on both Cousins Of course need to trade #2 pick -Need Love to possibly take slightly less than the max or waive Jabari Brown to get max -Go into training camp with this roster- PG: Clarkson SG: Kobe, Young SF: PF:Love C: Cousins, Sacre, Black =66.536 mil in salary vs. 67 mil cap next year + low MLE signing + Rookies (late first rounder if kept in Cousins trade) +vet min signings So is that team anything that scares anyone in the West next year?
David West can not block anything is equal to a defensive presence as Pete Chilcuit. He is not better than any of our pfs.
There is virtually no way the Lakers could get Cousins, sign Love, and have any way to acquire anyone else of significance. Only other method would be to trade Nick Young who can bring back something like 8 mil in salary in a deal. Who is giving up a quality player for Nick Young in that price range?
