One of these days your going to read between the line but it just shows how ignorant you are my statement was scarcasim about the difference as to how some white people are treated with kid gloves when being arrested compared to how some black people arrested. It wasn't about the burger.
Murdering 9 little kids is another level of horrible compared to 9 adults. Still, an interrogator will feed a suspect for cooperation. The more cooperative a suspect is, the better the treatment.
So no whooper for child murderers, huh? I honestly don't think those cops were giving the kid any special privilege. It's not like he got filet mignon. But racism exists amongst cops. We grew up in Louisiana and my dad used to get pulled over all the time (and he was fanatical about driving the speed limit and obeying traffic laws). Once he explained he wasn't black - I kid you not, they just let him go. This happened multiple times. I was in the back seat on some occasions. Now granted that was many decades ago but I don't think we are in a post-racial society. Racism is real. It happens everyday. It happens to minorities every day. It's not always overt, many times it's subtle. Many times it is about power and superiority. It exists with Dems, Repubs, and Independents. It is so indoctrinated into our culture that most people don't even realize it.
i find it pretty funny that there is always two ways to look at something. posters on this site are predictable on which side they stand on and they do stay pat. but its usually the same people antagonizing the other and neither side tries to see what the other person is saying. stupid thread is stupid. whats so hard to understand though, COOPERATE AND THINGS ARE DIFFERENT, and yes, there is racism and there will always be racism.
In my younger years when I worked for ICE (15-16 years ago), I went to Humble police station to pick up an illegal who got arrested and all of the prisoners there were eating Whataburger for lunch. This could be a situation where they didn't have a kitchen to serve the prisoners and or the kitchen was closed, or it would have just been faster to get him BK... Plus the officers may be trying to see if anyone put him up to this and are trying to make him feel comfortable enough to talk and tell.
I think there is more to this than just that Roof cooperated or disparate treatment between black and white suspects. This is a very high profile case and most likely the LEO were told to do things by the book and be on their best behavior. Given how much coverage there would be and critical it is to get a conviction they want to avoid anything that might cloud the prosecution or cause any other controversy.
Perhaps, but it is just as likely that he will ignite a race war in the prison where he is placed. If that facility has a large white supremacist contingent, they will likely protect him from the ones wanting to beat him down. If he is placed in a prison that has a large minority population (nearly every prison in the country) and few white supremacists, then he could eat through a straw for most of the rest of his life.
I doubt Roof will be held in the general population. Just because of what people are saying that there are likely many prisoners who want to harm him and some who want to protect him mean that they won't put him in the general population. LE is going to do all it can to keep him safe through trial, sentencing and punishing.
The proof for me was in the way he was arrested had that been a black or brown american it would have went a whole different way that's just the way i look at it.
yeah he's gonna be in some single person cell for a long long time. he will probably get a cage to walk around in for an hour everyday.
