Qualls should not be pitching in close games anymore. When you consider the fact that he isn't a long man either, he really has no business being on the team. There are so many other guys in the system that could produce equally or even better.
Don't remember why but we nicknamed that guy "wet turd". Wait, I think I remember now... :roll eyes: On a side note, Qualls has allowed a runner to get on base in 7 of his last 8 appearances. Can't continue to keep throwing him out there in these types of games.
What a tough game. Springer barely misses a 2-run HR, we lose a run on a ground rule double, and f**** Qualls. Dude should never pitch in a close game.
putting qualls in there with a tied game or a 1 run lead is asking for extra innings baseball.=) Too bad that the park took away another run from altuve and springer so clooose. Pujols needs to retire already.
I was one of the last holdouts defending Qualls, but we've passed the point of debate on him, he really shouldn't be in high leverage situations right now. He should be at the end of the bullpen pecking order because he is pitching terribly. 8.68 ERA over the last month, and a .973 OPS allowed. I'm willing to give him some innings in lower leverage spots to see if he can regain his form, but he should not be pitching in the 8th inning of a tie game. On offensive note, Evan Gattis now has a .504 OPS over his last 71 PA. He got 4 hits in one game over that stretch, otherwise it's down around .400. He really needs to get going. Carter gets a ton of hate from most people, but Gattis is bothering me more right now.
They both deserve it.... Carter's act is now fully established that he's always going to be as inconsistent as they come (along with playing horrible defense at 1B), and I don't think they have enough throughout the rest of the lineup (esp with Altuve struggling) to compensate.
Yep, agree. Hate to see it happen to Qualls with how much history he has with the organization. I think he and Wandy are the only players from the World Series team still in the majors. But, everytime he enters the game, I'm thinking that he's Hinch's Jerome Williams.
Tucker has really come back down to earth... both guys have really long swings that could be a cause for concern going forward.
Agree, but Thatcher has been good this year, especially lately, we can't say the same thing about Qualls
Disagree, RIGHT NOW Pujols hits a homer against anybody, he is REAL HOT hitting homers. I think the team should not pitch to Pujols in the series, UNLESS YOU HAVE TO, he is hitting a lot of homers and is very hot. Qualls right now is our worse pitcher in the staff, yes, even worse the Hernandez (last 2 or 3 games he has been veryyyy good as a reliever)
