Perhaps some conservative senator should write a letter to the American people urging them not to listen to Mr Obama?
No, it is your post that is a flat out lie. The only switching that happened was when the Democrats transferred their support for racism from white racism and the KKK to black racism and the NAACP/CBC. And that happened over time because the civil war generation and their immediate descendants died off and there was not enough people left to support the platform of white supremacy that the Democrats had championed for well over 100 years. Nevertheless, the Democratic party continued to dominate the statehouses and the congressional delegations of Southern states straight into the 1990's, when those states finally started switching in mass to supporting Republicans, as they very largely do today. And that happened not as the Republicans became less "liberal," but as the Democrats became radically more "liberal," in fact too "liberal" for these constituencies.
LOL. That sounds like something a liberal Senator would do. No wonder you thought of it. It never would have even occurred to me or to anyone who thinks like me as an option. We will leave that sort of stifling of other people's speech and opinions to you guys. It is apparently at the core of what you people are all about these days.
Hey Mojo, This is Lee Atwater being interviewed while working for Ronald Reagan as a campaign consultant. He's only being this honest because the interview was supposed to be anonymous. We now know Commodore's answer, but do you also consider the future Chairman of the Republican National Committee's description of the Republican's Southern Strategy as both "highly representative" AND "damning"?
Um, no. It is a historical fact that white Christians led that subjugation though and it's a fact that racist Democrats became Republicans in the 60's when the civil rights movement came of age. It's also a fact that Republicans implemented a southern strategy to court white voters after the voting rights act. You're welcome for the education.
The Democratic party continued to dominate the statehouses and the congressional delegations of Southern states straight into the 1990's, when those states finally started switching in mass to supporting Republicans, as they very largely do today. So, clearly, you have your history exactly wrong.
Hey bobby (and mojo), some more reading for you about that whole party affiliation thang. Greg Abbott donating funds given by white supremacist Gov. Greg Abbott received $1,000 in the past two years from the head of a white supremacist group that was an influence on Dylann Roof, the man accused of gunning down nine worshipers at a South Carolina church. Abbott’s spokesman said he is donating those contributions to the Salvation Army in Austin. there's more Another presidential hopeful, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, said he will return the $8,500 he received from Holt.
Good. That is a perfectly appropriate response for someone who finds the idea of being supported by such a person objectionable. Republicans, including Republican donors, will regard this as a demonstration of integrity by both of these men. At the same time, how can Democrats support a candidate who accepted contributions from the most vile and despicable regimes in the world, which routinely throw people off of buildings for their sexual proclivities and whose abuse of women, including stoning them, is legend? And if that was not enough - which I would think that it should be - she took these contributions while serving as Secretary of State apparently at times that coincided with her approval of large military weapons provisions and other very dubious approvals. But you want to talk about a couple of single donations that were given to Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott, and then later returned by both men. By the way, when is Hillary going to return the millions of dollars in bribes and payoff money that she received from these despicable regimes while she was Secretary of State? {Expecting crickets in reply, for obvious reasons}
At the same time nothing. The left is actively seeking to remove the money aspect of politics due to its corrupting force. FYI - I guess you deflectors who constantly try and bring the topic back to Hilary just don't get it. Most people on the left don't really like Hilary. Many of them are firmly in the camp of Bernie Sanders. Unfortunately, due to the nature of our r****ded presidential election process, Sanders can't win. Hilary is simply the better of two evils, as the conservatives are either too corrupt or too stupid to be trusted to run this nation.
LOL, oh wow, that's hilarious. What's crazy is that I actually believe that you think that to be true.
I'm glad you brought up Ms Clinton. Seems she's the only candidate to forcefully come out and confront the disease of racism in America today. Republican candidates don't seem to have the backbone to stand up to the disease that runs rampant in their party Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton, by contrast, has forcefully initiated a conversation about race and bigotry in recent days. At this moment of national trauma, the Republican candidates seemed as though they didn’t know what to say. While GOP candidates stammer, Clinton directly confronts race
I know it's hard, but we must face facts and come to terms that the biggest threat to America today are the GOP's own supporters. It's official: Police Now More Worried About Right-Wing Extremists Than ISIS The Growing Right-Wing Terror Threat
I don't blame Republicans for this act and certainly won't tar all Republicans because of this act. I applaud Republicans like Gov. Haley and think she has done everything right to deal with this situation. I'm not obsessed by party but some here are to the point of ignoring history, like that the Southern Strategy never happened or that many white Southerners switched from the Democrats to the Republicans because of Civil Rights (the name Strom Thurmond comes to mind), to argue that their party is pure. Neither party is perfect or pure.
