i dont hate lin like a lot of useless people with nothing else to do on this site. but i would have a hard time accepting signing days after the nba draft when you traded a 1st round pick to not have him on the roster the previous year. makes zero sense. maybe if you signed him for slightly over the minimum.
^ Why? Even if you view ignore the attempt at Bosh, the Lin trade enabled us to have the appropriate cap room to improve our bench enough to make the WCF's even without two starters! Win-now mode requires these kinds of moves. I'd chalk that up as a victory. No comment on actually bringing Lin back for a 3rd time.

Ding Ding Ding! Rockets had to give up a draft pick to dump Jeremy Lin onto the Lakers but as the quote in my signature says....it was addition by subtraction for us. We got rid of a liability on the court. Who wants Jeremy Lin to handle the ball and make decisions in the playoffs especially after Blazers fiasco??? Just getting rid of him made the Rockets better, but as you said, Rockets were able to turn the freed up cap space into productive players that helped us get to WCF. Meanwhile, Jeremy Lin in LA.....

The Lin trade was more like Lin+1st for Trevor Ariza at 4 years 32m. Pretty similar salary cap hits for 2015 between those two, so definitely a great trade.
