Would be nice to see him bring that to the majors. Move VV to the pen and let him work on not walking people.
Ended the game with a complete game in the first half of the doubleheader: 7IP 4H and the rest as the same. In the month of June (4 games) he has done much better: 23.1IP 15H 6R 4ER (4HRs) 5BB 20K Good to see him pitch well
Recent history would suggest Appel could get the call soon. Win now mode is damn fun. Especially since it doesn't mean mortgaging the future.
I hope I am wrong. But for me, he doesn't inspire confidence. You can say on the one hand, he really only had 4 bad appearances out of 13. But his overall numbers are pretty mediocre. It does appear to me that his rapid advancement, and now talk of a move to the majors, is largely propelled by our investment in him and his draft position. But its also true I dont follow the nuances of his game that are rarely reported, but seen by scouts and coaches. If the advancement is based on real life observation, and these people see something that says "major league ready", then they certainly should act on what they see. And perhaps he will meet the occasion if promoted to the majors. The other thing is need. I cant help "need" is driving this some also.
Asher Woj turned in a solid game as well. 7 innings, 6 hits, no runs, no walks, 5 Ks. Jason Stoffel blew the shutout and the game, allowing 4 runs in the 9th.
Which is why I don't understand why Kemp hasn't been called up. Marwin shouldn't be an everyday player, and Kemp has been killing it in every level so far.
Marwin can play SS which Kemp can't. Tucker can play OF. Conger plays catcher. Those are the three backups. Marwin will be there until someone that can play SS unseats him (e.g. Lowrie). Now if Astros decided to go back to 4 backups, Kemp would be competing with every bat Astros have at AAA.
Good to hear. Not sure what has changed for him over the last month but it seems to be working. If he shows that he can continue to do it, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in Houston sometime before September. I think they'd want the option of having him for the playoff roster if he's earned the call up.
GCL started today and they were shutout and only had 1 hit and 3 walks. Kyle Tucker went 0 for 3 with a walk and a strikeout
