Except you're forgetting that Ruby Ridge, one of the incidences that McVeigh, wanted to avenge involved white supremacists who were associated with the Aryan Nation. McVeigh also had been influenced by The Turner Diaries which was written by a white supremacist and was about a race war. While McVeigh's primary reasoning behind the OKC bombing wasn't white supremacism he was very heavily influenced and somewhat involved with that movement.
and? He was anti government. If he wanted to kill black people he could have done so much easier. He did it on the anniversary of Reno executing children. The motivation was clear. We just got a great example of what a WS attack looks like. Please remember this "confusion" and subsequent argument is from someone saying WS pose as prevalent a threat as Islamic terrorism by empirical measurements. Evidence to that is all refering to right wing domestic terrorists and still falls WAY short.
Evidence that it falls way short? Also, you pose zero scrutiny on the Muslim extremist death toll count in the U.S. How do you know all those murders were a result from either someone who happened to be Muslim and someone who was committing a terrorist act i the name of Islam? At the end of the day, individuals like you, and certain media outlets such as Fox News espouse the notion that violent racism in this nation is over unless it involves some rhetoric involving 'reverse-racism'. Again, look at the front page of Foxnews. No reference to the rhetoric or motivation of the killer but rather a discussion on ****ing 'gun free zones'. Spoiler for large image Spoiler
All you have done is post ****ty charts, bad info and shout "fox news". I have never posted anything from fox news and I don't watch cable news. Not once. I had a problem with you saying islamic terrorism is less threat than WS terrorism and you translate that to "violent racism in this nation is over". Your argument has failed so hard you have to completely change what I said. A discussion with you is like a pinball machine.
I did post empirical evidence but you placed scrutiny on whether some acts were motivated by racism yet you do not apply this scrutiny evenly. I doubt you will ever be a sceptic of a claim that a Muslim committed an act of violence because of Islamic extremism.
When they say the reasons like "I want to start a race war" I don't have to be skeptical. Same with people flying jets into tall buildings. They are telling me the reasons themselves. I don't have to guess.
Well maybe you should acknowledge Fox News and the freaking governor of South Carolina having trouble addressing motive.
a white supremacist is also a right wing extremist. There's no difference between McVeigh, Roof, and Bin Laden. They are all people who have a very radical view based on hate of those unlike them and a desire to bring harm, fear, and destruction upon their enemy. To defend McVeigh by justifying his action as being revenge...well, then you are basically saying that Bin Laden was only getting revenge as well.
a right wing extremist wants anarchy, a left wing extremist wants state control Roof was neither, just a racist
This suggests that the only factor distinguishing "right wing" and "left wing" is how limited the state should be. There's much more to it than that.
I mean, if we want to play this game <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="und" dir="ltr">H/T <a href="https://twitter.com/GrantDossetto">@GrantDossetto</a> <a href="http://t.co/10r5ANQNId">pic.twitter.com/10r5ANQNId</a></p>— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) <a href="https://twitter.com/redsteeze/status/612294841901432832">June 20, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Nobody knows for sure but the Klan itself is estimated to have been responsible for 2,000 deaths over it's history while there have been 3,446 known cases of lynchings of blacks. http://www.answers.com/Q/How_many_blacks_did_the_ku_klux_klan_kill That figure is greater than those that died on 9/11, and is very likely much higher given poor reporting. So if you're just talking about empirical evidence white supremacists have been a bigger threat to this country. Anyway what I don't understand other than just to argue for the sake of arguing, is why you are downplaying this threat. We just have a very clear example of a white supremacist attack that just killed 9 people. That is three times the amount of the Boston Marathon Bombing which no one disputes is terrorism. Islamic terrorism is obviously very important but in no way should we downplay the continued threat from the ideology that Roof espoused.
Dylann Roof wanted a race war. I would say that is wanting anarchy and would fit your definition of a right wing extremist.
I had to stop watching after he began describing drones. I am not sure if the War on Terror has impeded any investigations into terrorism or mass murder.
Not sure what I'm supposed to take away from those pictures. I just meant that "right vs left" is more complex than "limited state vs state control". Personally, I don't think its useful to use terms like "left-wing extremist" and "right-wing extremist".
no there isn't. left and right is ONE DIMENSION. if it was two you would have north east and south west. the political spectrum is left/right and therefore one dimension. That one dimension is scope of government. Very basic understanding of geometry. Only 3 political views exist on the right side of the spectrum: conservatism, libertarianism, and anarchy. 100% wrong.
I disagree. I like math, but this isn't about geometry. Religiosity, nationalism, privacy rights, military expansion ... how do these fit into left/right being exclusively about scope of government?
I'm not sure how you can debate this. The political spectrum is a straight line. It has to be if there are only 2 options (left and right). Its not a matter of opinion. So what do you think the one dimension is if not scope of government?
