He seems to be employing the standard traits of someone who's bought into a pyramid scheme. It's actually only such behavior (see his five or so posts after yours) that makes me nervous about the whole thing.

Otherwise, It think it's here to stay. A friend consults in surprisingly high echelons on wall street and he said he doesn't attend a meeting now without people of all ages talking about bitcoin & their positions. Of course, my friend has bought in, so...

The fervor makes me think of the not-so-long-ago emu farmers in TX.

Considering I was suckered into pyramid schemes twice and never followed through with them

I vowed to go the opposite direction from that sort of business.. seeing how they really are.

Bitcoin couldn't be further from that

Putting money in bitcoin seems way too risky. Circle would like a broker dealer, but then there is no FINRA or SEC regulating it. Admittedly trading is like gambling. Probably in a casino, whereas bitcoin seems to be throwing dice in an alley.

Ganja, are you buying bitcoins as a long term investment or is it the aggressive component of your portfolio?

    snagged from their whitepaper.

    http://www.augur.link/augur.pdf

One of the fundamental reasons why bitcoins are actually exciting outside of thier current price (somewhat irrelevant to be honest): they're a programmable base for transferring value trustlessly. If they've kept to the bitcoin core rather than an altcoin, they should be relatively trustworthy themselves when it comes to security.
