Now i understand why the Astros had this guy pitching in the 4th spot eventough he had such a great year last year. They KNEW
McHugh's fastball location is just not good right now... consistently missing the target on nearly every pitch.
McHugh is clearly in a slump but he has proven that he can be a very good pitcher for a long period. I don't really understand the hate for him right now. I'm confident he'll pull out of it. Colorado probably isn't the place to do it for someone that relies on his curve ball (any one remember what happened to Daryl Kile going to Colorado?).
Well, location is everything for McHugh. His fastball is not that fast. His curve hasn't been dropping as much as it was last year, it's been hanging in the middle of the plate. In other words, he hasn't had good location. So he's back to being fairly bad.
McHugh is currently the worst starter on the team. Hernandez sucks, but he's been better at keeping the other team from scoring. McHugh has been horrible, you can talk numbers all you want, but his stats clearly show that he's not fit to pitch right now.
I'm not watching it, but on GameDay it sure seems like McHugh is leaving everything up in the zone. I get that it's CO, but that's what got him killed in his last start.
Is ESPN gamecast off? I am at work and have noticed McHugh to be pumping heaters a little up but down the middle and getting squeezed?
