Correa is like the best of Bagwell & Biggio combined while also being a shortstop. George Springer is Cesar Cedeno, without the killing of his GF.
They could probably move Feldman to the 60 day DL to delay the inevitable. If everything goes well with him, he'll be ready close to 60 days.
I don't think there's much of a market for him as is... every other GM will see the same "limitations" as you do and will make offers accordingly. The Astros don't have to trade him any time soon... and on "this" team, he still remains one of the few players that can make consistent contact at the plate (which may change with more Luhnow draftees coming up), which is why they're still making a big push to not put him on the DL and let him just be a designated "swinger" at the plate.

Speaking of Correa, I saw this from everyone's favorite beat writer: Spoiler I am kinda tired of him. We have a first place team and this guy finds every reason to b**** and moan about what we are doing from a FO stand point. Could Correa have played? Sure, but it saved us millions down the road and is more an issue with the CBA than the Astros. This guy just always seems to find the s*** side of things and thinks it is journalism. /rant
Yeah, maybe. GMs value different things, though, so you never know. He's 25, a bit of a big name, and his numbers aren't by any means terrible. And last year, they were extraordinary. I just have a hunch the Astros don't have much value for a singles hitter who doesn't walk or hit for power. They may be in the minority. I don't know... we talk about guys like Hamels and Cueto... you don't think a package around Altuve would get Philly or Cincy's attention?
It's really strange. I know that you want the writers to be as objective as possible. But Drellich really seems to just flat dislike the Astros.
I agree with the concept that as fans, we look at the best players on the field, and not how much they save. Now, if i was the GM, i think differently.
his job as a beat writer is to "evaluate the product"? i guess i had an incorrect understanding of the job description of a beat writer.
Agree with almost all of this, but I don't think the owner or the GM really care about what the fans think, so I don't think they would hold on to Altuve if they felt they could improve the team by dealing him. By the way, Carter passed Altuve yesterday in OBP. Ouch.
Correa's plate discipline has been his best hit quality to me so far. Putting together long ABs, able to take offspeed outside the zone, etc. Very, very impressive for a 20 year old, the walks will start piling up sooner rather than later.
