Im not advocating anything right now...I just know that I havent been impressed with him this entire year because I actually get to watch the games, as opposed to last season, where I had to watch box scores. It's early to do anything and he's currently our best option for sure. What I want to see is if he can replicate numbers somewhere in the middle of what he did last year and what his career averages are...if he can do that, Im happy. Otherwise, he's just a guy that gets hits 29% of the time, doesnt walk, and doesnt play great defense. It's good, but can be better. I want to see him hit around 0.305-0.310. If he can do that, then Im not in a rush to change anything. If he hits below 0.300, then we have to pursue better options.

Nope, never said he's peaked. Just saying that for 3 years, he performed at a certain level...then he had a break out year...and this year, he's reverted back to that 3 year average prior to the break out. The numbers say that last year was an outlier. It's up to Altuve to show that he's Ichiro.
No. All I have been saying, *all* I have been saying, is that given the lineup the Astros have, that they need a high OBP guy at the top of the order. Luhnow said the same damn thing recently. If you can plug in a guy like Kemp, if he can be that leadoff guy you're looking for, then you think about moving Altuve. Or you sacrifice power in LF and play Kemp there instead of Tucker/Santana/whoever. Those are decisions for this coming offseason.

I guess it is time for Tony Kemp. Altuve needs a stint on the DL. He can't play with a limp leg. All it does is hurt him and the team.

Altuve needs to get back to being Altuve and that's not gonna happen if they keep trotting him out there on a bum hamstring after only a few days rest. Short term pain for long term gain, Astros.
He needs to go on the 15 day DL. Give him some solid rest and allow him to come back strong. Going out every few days to play becomes counter productive.
Put Altuve on the the 15-day DL. Maybe he'll bounce back strong. He doesn't add much of value unless he's hitting .320 or better and stealing bases. The Astros should be alright without him for 15 days.
i'm not saying i'm a doctor but hamstrings are easily re-injured. they(including altuve) can't be f'ing around with this injury. we need him healthy. don't see kemp getting called up though. 2 weeks of marwin.
More rock solid work from Obie. If he just stays healthy he brings some much needed stability to a rotation that still has a lot of question marks. The Astros need to put Altuve on the DL. Hamstrings are tricky and he needs to get his mind right. Right now I'm in the camp that doesn't think he's gonna come close to last years level. There was nothing about his numbers last year that screamed much improved, he just had a much higher BABIP than he has had the rest of his career. Having said that he's better than he's been recently. After the magnificent year he had last season, I want to see him healthy to see if he adjusts with some time off.

This, you only move Altuve if you are getting a kings ransom for him. He was hitting very well early in the year and has seemed exhausted since... It has been an issue previous years as well.
No; we're all more than willing to ride a hot streak. But a lot of us recognized his limitations, even last year. The guy doesn't walk or hit for power, which makes him a fairly one-dimensional hitter. If he collects 200+ hits (singles) every year, cool - he has greater value, especially when you factor in his speed. But a guy putting up 180-ish hits with no walks and no power is dime a dozen. I hope he goes on the DL and they let Kemp play every day for 2 weeks. The guy is, and apparently always has been, an OB machine, and having a guy like that at the top of this line-up, with Springer and Correa following... That has some serious long-term potential. Unfortunately, Altuve is far and away the most popular/known Astro and after all the losing and PR nightmares this team has suffered just in its home town, I think they'd be roasted if they dealt Altuve right now - or even in the offseason. But I just don't think he's a long-term answer at 2B and I'd be willing to bet the Astros privately feel the same way.
Kemp would probably come up, if he were already on the 40-man, but I don't think they'd do that yet, especially since they will need to DFA someone once Lowrie returns.
