I can't tell you how much this team will miss Ariza if we trade him.

I'd go for that. Try to grab Ty Jones from the draft

Would reeeeally like to hold on to Capela. I think the kid can be a star in this league

I dont know that he'll ever be a "star" but I think he will be a very productive player and would not add him to any deal unless the return was a true star at the 1 or 4 , not willing to add him to some minor upgrade.

Ideally I keep Dwert , DMo & Capela. Honestly I'd like to keep Jones too .... especially if I cant resign Smith. The only exceptions to that would be A) signing Scola (or another vet) for dirt cheap or B) trading Jones for an upgrade at the 4.

You can never have enough good big men.

If you can land Llull with the MLE & Scola with the vet min you are in good shape.

Dwert / Capela / Dorsey (Yuk)
DMo / Jones / Scola (Smith?)
    Ariza / KPap (For now)
    Harden / Brewer / Terry
Llull / PatBev (Im matching MLE money) / Johnson / Prigioni

Two draft picks to work with. Looking at this roster , I'm looking to improve the 2/3 spots behind Harden & Ariza. You could do that with one player.

With talk of the Knicks looking to trade if Okafor, Russell and Towns are gone, would Mudiay be worth trading up for? And do we have the pieces needed to do it?

Can someone here please explain to me why we aren't heavily pursuing Millsap?? Exceptional player, can shoot the three ball too. Excellent defender. Has a solid post game too. He would be an exceptional fit in our offense and would strengthen the defense. I'm not saying he is a better player than LMA but I think in some ways he would be a better fit in our system. I also think he is a better defender. What's to stop us from offering him a one year deal and then re signing him to the max when the cap rises? Perhaps he doesn't want to leave and fully intends on staying in Atlanta, but it's just a thought I had before.

Cause we already have the best big man lineup in the league by far. He's a polished Smoove.

Millsap had an all-star season. He took a short 2 year deal with Atlanta hoping to cash in. It worked. He isn't going to take another short deal. He is going to look for something in the 14/15M per season range and max years.

The Rockets don't have that much cap room even if they renounce a bunch of players.

Boston gets far too little for what they give up.

Houston offers Dwight Howard and #32 for #4+Tim Hardaway JR from NY.
Houston trades Tim Hardaway Jr., #18, Terrence Jones to Detroit for # 8.

Houston drafts Russell and 4 and Hezonja at 8.

    KPap + Prigioni + TJones + #32

    for

    Thad Young + #29

We need Thad to decline his ETO for this to work

Brooklyn gets cap relief for next year and a pick that doesn't require guaranteed salary. TJones also isn't a bad replacement for Thad.

Houston gets a more proven and consistent player in Thad, and we can use his contract throughout the season in trade negotiations. I also prefer the #29 over the #32, not because its the higher pick, but because a we won't have to use the MLE to sign a 1st round pick to a long term contract like we would a 2nd round pick.

So the Nuggets want the Kings pick for Lawson. Do you think we can get in on this at all? I know George Karl loves Lawson but.. maybe we could swoop in with what the Kings need (the still have Collison) which may involve us giving up D-Mo as apposed to Jones as he'll be a better fit next to Boogie i think.
So we could give up D-Mo, Kpap and the #18 for the #6 to give the Nuggets for Lawson??

I like it a lot. Use the MLE to bring over Llull, I'm assuming. Bring Young off the bench- which works well because he can play both the 3 and 4 spots. The only issue would be - IMO - that you lose Papa, so you better be confident you can either draft a new PG or bring one in using the MLE, but with two late first rounders you could probably do pretty good.

Yeah…..they would need to know Llull is in the bag before they did this.

A couple of other ways to do something similar to what I proposed earlier:

Papa + Prig + Dorsey + #32 for Jordan Hill and #27 (Our own pick)

Papa + Prig + TJones + Dorsey for Gallinari

Papa + Prig + TJones + #32 for Ryan Anderson

The rigid structure is needed....this should be in the random trades thread because this is a random trade idea.

Second there's no way I do that trade. You don't give up both DMo and ariza unless it's for a star player in return. Those two are too valuable to this team.

    The Short answer: No.

The Long Answer: No Way in a Million Years, Dmorey should be fired if he did not even laugh audibly at the Nuggets GM if that trade was proposed.
