They were also super healthy had injuries to every other team and missed the two teams most favored to get to the finals: spurs and clippers.

A lot of this goes to defense though - they were markedly better in points of TO's this year (which boosts assists considering many of them are transition opportunities).

Having Dray and less Lee, as far as I can tell, looks like it made them an elite fast-break team in terms of both efficiency and volume, whereas last year they look barely above average.

The warriors won't have the same string of luck again, I don't think your seeing a dynasty here. They may touch a finals again for awhile. The western conference is too good and there probably a new WCF champion every year.

Bingo! But you forgot their defense as well. Their defensive efficiency isn't #1 in the league for nothing... Their rotations and help defense are something the Rockets should do if they want to go the extra mile. The extra effort on defense goes a long, long way...

The Maury apologists will always make excuses for a lack of results and talk about how they can tolerate that as long as they feel the process is correct. But, in the end, this is a results oriented business. GSW made the bold move to fire Mark Jackson and the rest of the coaching staff and bring in Steve Kerr, Ron Adams, and Alvin Gentry and the results speak for themselves. It's absolutely undeniable the tremendous positive impact that Golden State's coaching staff had on the team's success. Also, there's a reason why GSW's GM was executive of the year while Maury is attention whoring on twitter.

It's really unfortunate though because this could have been the Rockets year. They were the beneficiaries of CP3 being hurt and not playing at 100% and LAC being gassed from their 1st round series against the Spurs. But management and ownership decided to stick with McFail and attempt a world record for 3 pt attempts without having one decent 3 pt shooter on the team. The Rockets could have been the ones hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy last night instead of the Warriors.

Next season, GSW is basically bringing back the same team, LAC is going to add some solid pieces in Lance and PP along with bringing DJ back, Cleveland will be healthy and will be a force once they make the Finals again as a result of playing in the East, and OKC should come back with a vengeance. Where do the Rockets fit in all this? The 20-1 odds to win the title for 2015-16 speak for themselves.

Warriors were the best team all season. People always say media love this blah blah blah...it's not like Warriors were the favorites going into the season. Warriors were no big 3 hype team. They got the media's love by winning, simple as that. Plus having a magician on the team helps too.

Defense is a part of it. But their opponent TO% only went up from 13.6% last year to 14.3% this year. What happens after you generate that TO also matters.

Having multiple guys capable of pushing the ball up the court after ever TO, and rebound and even made basket makes these guys dangerous in transition. Curry, Thompson, Green, Iguodala, Livingston and Barbosa will all just put their head down and go.

I do not mean to be forgetting the defense at all. However, the Warriors were already a top level defensive team last season (ranked 4th overall) so their improvement on that end is less dramatic. I'd say much of the credit goes to Draymond Green-- who finised 2nd in DPOY voting-- starting and playing a lot more.

Adversity? Warriors were down 2-1 going into two game 4's on the road. People doubting them again and and letting them know jump shooting teams don't win the championship. Warriors responded in vengeance and took control of the game and series.

That is why Rockets should deserve a lot of praise for what they did to the Clippers.

The warriors have some semblance of a mid-range game. The rockets have none.

That doesn't explain their regular season dominance though. Regardless of their playoff opponents, they were crushing healthy teams all year long.

Next year, OKC, Spurs and Rockets are likely the top team on the western conference, GS is still in mixture, but OKC would be on the top.
