They're a chain of movie theaters. In Houston they own all the Tineseltowns.

I used to go to Cinemark Spring XD but now I hit up the AMC location in Spring with the reclining big ass chairs.

Did you ask them for backpay to correct their mistake? What did they say?

Go work for HEB. You won't be minimum wage and you can actually see your checks.

Look for another job, move to another job... and then disclose all company secrets to the public, anonymously.

HEB and costco pays pretty well. I know for sure at Costco if you work part time you will get full benefits.

I think Costco pays at a minimum 12 dollars an hour with full benefits in Texas. It's 17 an hour in most states.

Did you actually ask your boss for the back pay? If not, go ahead and ask.

If they say there is nothing you can do, see if you can talk to HR (I'm sure you talked to someone while getting hired). If you don't know anyone, ask your boss if there is anyone you can personally ask about it.

Maybe you have some sort of employee hand book with corporate numbers on it, etc. I'd call them if your boss doesn't do anything. Generally speaking, if you ask your boss, and they say no, and then you ask for who you can ask in another department and/or above them, they may be more willing to help.

Dude, I would cut your losses and just find a different job. Once hired at new job, just stop showing up at Cinemark. Don't look back. They are just going to further take advantage of you and play the "stupid" card.

If they call asking why? Just hang up.

I know what it's like to be broke as hell. But this isn't worth the trouble. The time and effort that you'd put into getting that $450 from Cinemark would net you much more if you redirected it to finding a better job.

    Good luck.

You have bartending experience. Go get a job at a bar or restaurant where you will make that $450 in a weekend.

Very odd that you aren't getting a paystub of some time. In fact, I think it's the law.

In any case, just keep on them and make sure you get paid for all the hours you worked (and will work at minimum wage). You have a right to be annoyed, but remember it's not your manager who screwed you over. You simply don't know what happened. So you have to give them a chance to fix everything.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Texas employment law says that it is required for all jobs not covered by FLSA. I'd imagine that his job is covered under FLSA, so in his case, the law does not entitle him to a pay stub.

But that doesn't mean that it's right or makes any sense not to provide them for your employees.

This is a life lesson. Move on, make yourself not easily replaceable via networking and skillset and get another job.

Not getting promised raises at your level is standard operating procedure in corporate America; execs get bonuses based on financials so they dupe the managers, who in turn get bonuses based on earnings & cost savings, so they dupe the employees. Employees don't mean a damn in these low skillset jobs. It's easier to train new people than give existing people raises. The formula won't change until there's more jobs than people, which isn't going to happen any time soon because of manufacturing in other countries, automation, and prison near-slave labor in the US.

It's a damn shame but it's also the pinnacle of capitalism.

Have you considered waiting tables instead? More work, but better pay and better colleagues who like to party after work.

    This.

It's a learned experience. OP is a little wiser now.

I don't know how old the OP is or what talents he has. Posting that would be a start for more accurate advice
