Won't work. There is no cure and it is everywhere. "Run in circles, scream and shout ..."

You may not like to cushion your opinions with a bunch of "I think" lead-ins, but when you state an opinion as fact you are in fact not stating an opinion at all, you are stating a fact. When you state an opinion as a fact when in fact it is not a fact, you are a fraud. And while we are all guilty of overselling our opinions from time to time, if you do it consistently and do it often enough people begin to see you as a fraud.

Don't treat your opinions as facts and don't lecture other posters with your opinions as if they are facts. Do that and your message will be much better received.

If you lose your audience with the tone of your writing it will not matter how many "I think" lead-ins you do or do not have. What's worse is that the reader will focus on the tone of your writing and not the content. I think thats a shame because I really do think you have very good content from time to time.

Regrettably, the reader is frequently pulled off sides by the tone of your posts and the discussion tends to degenerate into one of a more personal nature. Which is exactly what has happened here.

Can't give enough rep for this insight. I don't even know what BBH has said because he's on my ignore list (for exactly the reason you stated) but I've thought and even told him this exact thing. Seems he's still going about things the same way. If he'd stopped to think about how he says things nearly as much as he spends writing content he might actually persuade some people.

Alas it just eventually devolves into a BBH vs the BBS....

I'm not giving up on Nick Johnson but he almost has to play the point as he lacks the size to play SG on a regular basis. At least that's my opinion.

As a PG next to Harden , if he can develop a solid outside shot and cut down on the turnovers he could do some real damage on both ends.

Yep , being more efficient on offense helps the defense tremendously.

The more teams take the ball out of the net the fewer fast break opportunities / they get .... and for majority of teams those are the most efficient possessions. Limit them as well as offensive boards and you give your half court defense a chance.
The Rockets have , when healthy a pretty solid half court defense.

Just a thought since this is the 'catch all' thread. He's small and is a poor defender, but Isiah Thomas is on a fantastic contract ($7 mil) and could give us that offensive punch we've been lacking. He can be our secondary creator and hit the three. I'd guess his minutes would be offset with Harden's a bit just because of the defensive implications.

Isaiah Thomas for K-pap, #18, Nick Johnson
Then we resign Bev or pick up Llull with the MLE.
(If we opt to resign Bev, we could use that MLE money to pick up guys like Dunleavy/our second round pick/Brandon Bass/whatever would fill a hole)

He's far from the perfect player, but he would make guys like Steph work their ass off on defensive end. It would certainly help those scoring droughts we struggle with. If Bev was resigned, we'd have a solid one-two punch of offense and defense at the point.

Not the first choice of moves, but one that I would be happy about.

No, just no. If they cannot defend NBA point guards they have no business on the Rockets roster. Might as well go with Terry.

I don't mind the player as much as I do the trade. If the Rockets are paying $7 million for a backup PG, assuming Bev is going to be paid more, I don't see them having money for the PF position. That means no Josh Smith or any other valuable free agent PFs. I would rather draft a PG and sign a PF.

Just an FYI for those who haven't heard this before (I've mentioned it a couple of times over the years and am in the mood to do it again). Give credit for the source of my signature to Herman Wouk's The Caine Mutiny (1951). Mr. Wouk is 100 years old, believe it or not, and a veteran of WWII, who served in the Pacific theater (like my late father, who was also in the Navy during the war), and one of the few left. He won the Pulitzer Prize for The Caine Mutiny, which was made into a successful Broadway play and then 1954's film, another huge success, with 7 Academy Award nominations (Bogart should have won that year, dammit!). Wouk described "When in danger... " as an "ancient adage," not something he dreamed up. A late cousin of mine had the quote taped to his dresser mirror for years. I use it to remember him, and because it sums up so much of what happens in this world of ours.

By the way, Mr. Garcia's first name is spelled with a J. I saw him and the band many times. :)-

We are definitely not paying Bev over $7 million, but also PG (secondary playmaker) is the much more important need. DMo is solid, Jones is passable, and Josh may likely sign for cheap.

He is miles and miles ahead of Terry just because he is capable of actually running, but the point is his offense. We need a second creator/scorer to make the opposing PG work for it. Look what happened to Klay's offense when he had to match up on Harden. If you read the post, IT is far from perfect, but he would definitely improve the team if we can't pick up a few of the bigger names being floated around.

Okay, now the NBA season (meh who cares after the Rockets are out) is over and more and more rumors should circulate, this thread can become the hot spot for offseason chatter once again

The offseason is so much fun thanks to Cyber, Codman and Doc.

Crazy thing is that there has already been a major trade in the past week where a rival team got better. Daryl can not stand pat.

A very good post. According to cyberx, Morey could have gotten him quite cheaply, but he didn't go after Thomas.
