    Luhnow is a double agent.

    Its always possible.

Also, it wasn't the "same" passwords as many are saying here... but there were password "patterns" they were able to decipher.

Hell, even with more advance encryption/vastly different passwords, if any entity knew about a "website" and really wanted to hack into it, they'd likely find a way (and I doubt MLB team's encryption is really designed to prevent real cyber-criminals... the key here is that people in the Cardinals "knew" that hacking into this system would lead to an abundance of information, as he probably had a similar setup back there).

We should get their competitive balance draft picks for the next two years. That'll work.

This sounds like a lot more than some low level employee.

Investigators believe Cardinals officials, concerned that Mr. Luhnow had taken their idea and proprietary baseball information to the Astros, examined a master list of passwords used by Mr. Luhnow and the other officials who had joined the Astros when they worked for the Cardinals. The Cardinals officials are believed to have used those passwords to gain access to the Astros’ network, law enforcement officials said.

Luhnow should hire any member of the Cardinals front office ready to jump ship... send out a life-boat before they all get thrown under the bus!

Mike Fast has an Engineering Physics degree, and Sig Mejdal was a NASA Engineer. Jeff Luhnow also has an Engineering degree.

IDK if they actually have a phd in Physics like the Big Bang Theory guys, or if they are just a bunch of Howards.

Not sure why you would say it's not fair to the other 30 teams to give the Astros the Cardinals' picks. We are the only team that was unfairly affected by this whole scenario. Why would the other teams benefit? Our brand was tarnished. It may have hurt negotiations in our tv deal. It is hard to quantify how much damage this caused the Astros organization.

So this is just boys being boys.... gotcha.... sure.

I don't think that a low level employee would have access to all of the passwords.

    Something doesn't add up.

I have a question, what If u are working for the Astros, they fire you, but they forget to disable your account passwords and login. You then log in and access the database and information. Is that a crime? I've got to think that happens a lot in organizations that are short in the IT department.

If somebody leaves their keys in the car...and you get in and drive it away without breaking anything, is that a crime?

Did the Cardinals employee still think he worked for Luhnow?

"Did it vaguely resemble the car that you know is parked in your garage?" is the more accurate hypothetical question.

He probably will wish he was still working for Luhnow once this is all over.
