You have no data to back up your 99% claim - while I concede that it may not be as prevalent as some may say, the fact that it is happening again and again, especially when race is involved is unacceptable.

All it will take is for those to be prosecuted and jailed for their breaking of the law they took an oath to protect.

The police should be held to a higher standard, and if they are not suited to it, they should be kicked out, ASAP.

Body cameras on every single officer would go a long way to helping.

What is the actual percentage of bad apples, then? It was you that said too many are taking their power for granted. Provide your statistics that prove it's a problem.

One-off anecdotes, many of which are flat out wrong (e.g., Mike Brown incident), are not compelling evidence. The news media and the race hustlers will fan the flames to create viewers, but that is also not compelling evidence.

My proof is in all the stories that are coming out about people being killed, or a cop pulling a gun at a teenage party.

I mean it is obvious there is a problem and a lack of accountability - the BLUE WALL - is certainly not helping.

Police are public servants, and in many cases they have lost their perspective.

So all you have is anecdotal evidence, much of which is not even valid. Terrible logic from you.

Now you are just flat out lying because you have no data to back up your claim.

Police have been doing this for years and years, but now with video technology they are starting to get caught red-handed and truth is coming out.

Body Cameras - that is the answer, they work for us, they need all of their actions as cops on camera.

Record it all, no more of this he said she said stuff, the cops are just as prone to lying as the general population, let's remove the doubt.

Who gives a ****, the fact that enough have been caught is a problem - we already know that cops are generally not the brightest bulbs in the box, let's just remove the doubt and put cameras on them and be done with the suspicion - let the facts be the facts.

In reading the posts in this thread, being a police officer seems to be a dishonorable profession. It appears to me that we could save a lot of money by just disbanding all domestic police agencies and turning over personal security to the individual or business owner.

Or, we could group our police officers into 6-man teams (one white, one black, one Hispanic, one Asian and one Muslim) so that the appropriate officer by race could shoot the corresponding offender.

Instead of this sarcastic post, why not just put body cameras on them all, so that we get data for all their actions as they are paid for by our taxes.

    First, that's only 5. Second, Muslim isn't a race.

It's an honorable profession that has too many dishonorable people in it.

I can understand if we were talking about Sting, but The Police? How can anyone hate The Police?

Why is that even material? You act like that it's ok so long as they don't get caught.

Disgusting. Oh, and I don't make up statistics like you do.

Or we could just acknowledge that cops are people too and do bad things, especially when given a lot of power. When their word counts more than anyone else's they have the ability to get away with a lot.

And we could address this by putting freaking body-cams on them.

Or how about better hiring practices. Better training. Weeding out the few bad ones that are adding to distrust. And yes, even putting more effort into having a police force that better reflects the communities they work in.

That, and better equipping the police (ie cameras) will bring about improvements needed. But those listed above will bring about long term improvements that will hopefully make the cameras less important...

Or we can increase standards for entry into a LE career and increase pay to incentivize more educated and intelligent individuals to apply. Instead of wasting the budget on MRAP vehicles, dedicate that money towards salary and training. We can also attempt to remove the stigma of 'blue falcons' and 'snitching' so officers do not feel so comfortable being dirty cops around their peers. That will come when my 1st suggestion is applied and individuals with higher IQs are prevalent in the LE community as more intelligent individuals do not fall victim to the 'snitching is bad' rhetoric. Most importantly we can reintroduce the notion that being a officer requires courage.
