Replacing Rasmus. Rasmus going to bereavement list. Feel bad for Colby as he was on fire lately. Hopefully Santana can prove his worth this time around. http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fa...5523/report-astros-calling-up-domingo-santana
at least it's not villar out in the outfield. =) hope santana can show some of what he has been doing in fresno in his 3 game stint here
Thanks for posting. Will be interesting to see even in a small sample if Santana can make contact in the majors.
I guess everyone needs attention, this news was clearly reported last night in the other thread. Oh well....
There is guy with the user name Clutch that has said he is against all topics ending up in one or two catch-all threads. Santana being called up deserves its own thread, IMO, and there will likely be on-going discussion surrounding Santana if he gets some plate appearances that would derail other thread.
Fair enough... I guess I have been overruled. Just gets annoying seeing 234 new threads popping up with information that has already been shared in other threads.
Fangraphs had a story on how zone contact percent relates to the transition from AAA to the majors. Santana ranked as the worst expected drop in wOBA so far this year among top 200 prospects. Granted, if that expected drop in wOBA is all the drop that he experiences, the Astros will have a very good player. He had a much worse transition last year than is expected this year (understatement). http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/how-...influence-a-hitters-transition-to-the-majors/
Just looking at the baseball stats, and not the stat nerd stuff Santana has been a much better player in the minors this year than last And he has always been young for his level Here's hoping he comes in this time and hits, certainly wouldn't be the first guy to be overwhelmed in his first shot at the majors and still turn into a very productive player
LOL, there are threads on the front page from a week ago. The astros forum is hardly a hotbed for new threads.
Santana in his second at bat gets a single and a RBI. Santana in is first at bat did not strike out. A banner day!
If Santana does hit there is going to be some serious logjam in the outfield. Springer Rasmus Marisnick Tucker Santana Springer is going to play everyday regardless, if we decided to stick with 12 pitchers are there enough at bats around to get the remaining 4 guys enough ABs? Tucker, Santana & Marisnick are all still young, developing players and need to play almost everyday, Ramus needs to play almost every day too as he has one of the highest OPS' on the team. What is the breaking point?
