Just what we need, another grandpa that can't play defense - this time at PF

Right we'd definitely play him as a starter, because that was exactly the intent with prigs and Terry.

The Warriors bench players play defense and are mostly two way players. No reason that the rockets have to settle for specialists. Else you get Joey Dorsey

Sure where do you get one of those for the vet min? Nah Sayers here are acting like he'd be taking up a critcal roster spot and big cap space.

    Leandro Barbosa?

    David Lee?

    Festus Ezeli?

    Brandon Rush?

Two way players on their bench? Nope.

Brandon Rush is most definitely a 2-way player.

Jones will be gone way before Smith. I'd bet my account on that.

I hope our PF rotation consists of Dmo, Smoove and Scola at the start of the year.

Jones is fixable. Smith isn't. Smith is the better player right now. But honestly he's someone that you tolerate for 15-20 minutes, not someone you go to war with for most of the game. Dude can quickly shoot you out of a game as well as he can win it for you. D Mo is the clear starter here. Smith, if cheap, would be a decent backup, with Scola getting some change of pace looks and working with D Mo. Jones is the odd man out, and the more valuable trade chip. But I don't think we've seen Jones's ceiling yet.

Scola's role here, if he comes back, will also be a locker room guy. I remember on a podcast that said when the Pacers show their players verticality, they don't show Hibbert, they show Scola. Scola personifies the whole intangibles, veteran-savvy aspect that doesn't get shown on stats. He's just a baller and definitely show Jones and DMo some nice moves.

I don't think we've seen Jones' ceiling either, but I think we're close.

I agree with everything you said, especially Jones being the odd man out.

We should bring back Smith if we can make it work financially.

As frustrating as he can be at times, I feel he brings way more to the team than he takes away from it.

i honestly hope you are wrong, and somehow get to keep your account ;)

One season of Smoove was enough for me; I think Jones has huge upside (people forget he's only 23). His issue is confidence and he needs to stay healthy long enough to build some consistency. But the talent is there and the kid works hard. He's got legit allstar potential if he can put it together. Smoove's allstar days are behind him (many more ill-advised 3-pointers ahead of him).

Honestly, Jones was beasting at the beginning of the season and was never the same after his first injury nor his rib injury.

He would only play well against weak PF. You can see during the playoffs how exposed his weakness was.

    1. We might if we deal a PF and/or lose Josh.
    2. Even if we don't, he'll sign for vet min so it's a free piece that can contribute on the court and in the locker room.
