You are trying to explain something to someone who isn't capable of learning

Inexplicably, Valbuena and his .256 OBP, actually leads the team in runs scored with 33. Springer has reached base 34 more times than Valbuena, yet has scored 3 less runs.

    Strange how that works.

What a crazy lopsided series. Feels good to win one again, offense finally showing signs of life.

    Excellent, just beautiful

    Wow, just wow

Valbuena probably stranded Springer on-base many times. Since George moved to leadoff... the offense, namely Altuve, had gone into the tank.

Still a very surprising stat. Good find.

on a non related note, it seems all the holy prospects around the league that have been called up, are contributing to wins.

I'm ready do dump a portion of the farm for a tier 1 pitcher. We will need to add a big arm before seasons end if we want to contend this year. I absolutely love the direction the Astros are heading.

It has been a weird year in that respect. But I will say Addison Russell has done next to nothing all year long. Jorge Soler also hasn't been so good. Archie Bradley had a few decent starts early and got hit hard multiple times after he came off the DL. And I think we're still a little TBD on Folty going up and down.

Just wanted to point out that it's easier to see the good ones...some guys are still certainly struggling.

    Heh.

Here's some more evidence for the "Luis Valbuena might actually be good!" crowd, of which count myself a proud member.

The first chart is 3B fielding plays. Sorry for the ambiguity.

Public defensive metrics are still pretty rough, but the chart just tries to quantify "good plays" versus "bad plays" for 3B players.

Second chart is hard-hit ball rates. The Astros have more or less said publicly that they value hitters who hit the ball hard and pitchers who limit hard contact. That's pretty evident in that chart.

For those out-of-towners that want to watch the Astros from afar, I just signed up for MLB.TV premium for $49.99 Father's "week" special for the rest of the season. I am located in Dallas (I know) so I had to use unlocator so the games won't be blacked out. Pretty sweet, can't wait to chromecast some games the rest of the year. Thought I would pass the word on. Not sure if it is a site wide promotion or if they only email you the promotion. Good luck!

Site-wide. They have run this special every year. Trying to decide if I want to do it or not. MLB dropping Windows Phone Coverage has really pissed me off.

That's not good if he's your best hitter; if he's your 4th or 5th best hitter, it's more than acceptable.

It's not Altuve's fault how he ranks in the Astros list of best hitters.

Altuve clearly hasn't been our best hitter this year
