Government should butt out of adoptions too.

Except you might've saved a lot of money from legal bills for writing contracts regarding things like, inheritances, parental rights, guardianship, visitation rights, insurance, employment benefits and etc.. Compared to if you had to do all those on your own without accepting the government's official sanction that covers all of those things.

I wasn't sure what you were referring to.

Look the whole idea of marriage is for simplicity sake. So you get a license get married and all the laws that go with it. You don't have to get a marriage license to spend your life with someone and have kids with them. You know that right?

The state doesn't create these rules to get into your business, but rather to make things easier and cheaper for everyone.

You can over-ride the rules with your own contract and define what your marriage is so long as it doesn't counteract any existing law. You can divide your estate any way you want. You can do a lot.

Sounds like your wife is the one who is limiting you and interfering with your desires, not the gov't.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't religious hospitals also receive funding yet are allowed to deny abortions for religious beliefs?

Regardless, there are other adoption agencies that gay or single parents can apply to.
