I disagree. I went in March 2011 and it was beautiful.

Go to Venice during the Spring or Fall. Not nearly as many people. During the Summer? It's ridiculous.

New Orleans...well, anywhere in Louisiana for that matter. I hate that entire f***ing state.

    Bad experience?

Boston is bad ass, and the entire state of Massachusetts is cool in my opinion. Driving out to Portland, Maine from Boston is a good time as well

I don't know about far more history. It's just that NYC has so much more going for it than history alone, that it's history sometimes gets overshadowed. Parts of Lower Manhattan date back centuries.

I realize that New Amsterdam has history, but Boston has far more history - probably only really eclipsed by Philadelphia (and DC of course). They also do a much better job of preserving said history than NYC.

I don't particularly like the east coast, the only redeeming quality to me is the history. I much prefer the west coast, especially the Pacific Northwest - San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, etc.

My dislike of New England has a lot to do with the people (Boston included).

Been there in November on a rainy day, and it was still packed as f..k. Really ridiculous sometimes.

The best time to visit Venice is the middle of the night. True story.

We checked into our hotel in Venice, jatlagged, and didn't feel like dealing with the throngs of tourists. Decided to get some sleep instead, woke up at 2am and walked the entire city which was pin-drop silent. Was pretty surreal.

Perhaps it was a holiday of some sort? I've been to Venice in March and it was largely deserted. That was some years back, to be fair.

I've heard Vancouver described a lot of ways, but never met anyone that wasn't impressed.

Did you go on a cold/rainy day?

I'll add to the London hate and also throw in Paris.

London is just another crowded metropolis with too many tourists and horrible food. Did anybody else notice that every restroom, not including your hotel's, was reeking with the smell of urine?

Paris is just on another level with super rude locals and an ungodly amount of tourists. Hated it the most out of my Europe trip.

For me it's Miami. Some decent Cuban food, but I don't really care about trashy clubs and trashy people on beaches. Some decent eye candy, but not really a place I would love at all.

Not sure about Miami, but I've been to Cuba and even there the Cuban food isn't very good.

    Good idea for a thread.

Worst food/cuisine I've ever had on god's green earth is in Central America (Panama/Honduras/Costa/Nicaragua)
