Probably. There's a lot of bad cops out there that freak out under pressure. It's odd that in this instance it was the higher ranking cop, usually it's the newbies.

Well I can tell you that they have certainly shown up at MANY predominantly white parties I've been at exactly like that. Not all of them mind you, but there's often one or two that go nuts.

It's the same as the Houston cop a few (might be more than a few now that I think about it) years back who showed up to a punk club because of a noise complaint and ended up freaking out tasing the hell out of anyone near him.

That said, you're a hammer, to you everything is a nail, so I understand.

Yeah, and they shot them. What point were you trying to make?

I think it's hilarious just about any time someone is running their mouth and they get "slammed" for it. If the little girl's parents did a better job of raising her, she wouldn't be talking **** to cops.

I mean, they don't actually get hurt, it's just someone shattering their illusion of entitlement.

How much of that outcome was the result of his actions vs those of the other more level-headed officers that were assisting? I don't think you want to wait until there is a crazy ending before making changes. Maybe you're right and this was a fluke or that a timeout will make this guy realize his mistakes. But when it comes to public safety, I'd rather err on the side of being overly careful than hoping that's the case. He should be at the very bottom of the totem poll of being in the field (and in charge of other officers) as long as other officers have shown more composure in the same situation. I don't think punishment and then putting him back into the field is appropriate - he has to earn his back into his current role.

Unless you view a bunch of kids standing around as a problem, the video does not show any threat nor imminent danger necessitating the level of aggression displayed by this cop.

If I saw a cop overreacting in the manner this guy was treating this girl, I would be compelled to go to her aid and let him know he needs to tap the brakes. She was not a threat to him nor anyone else.

If he pulled a gun on me for trying to de-escalate his aggressive overreaction, he would be wrong and should suffer the consequences.

That's all good and well, but he's still the raging small-man-syndrome dude with the gun and power in the immediate situation. Anything you do that he doesn't like could easily lead to you in cuffs or tased or shot, whether you deserve it or not. Unfortunately, it's a sticky situation trying to intervene with a power-tripping cop like that and I'm not honestly sure how I would react.

I have to respectfully disagree with you here. I've seen on numerous occasions white teens AND adults mouth off, yell, scream and curse at police officers without finding themselves put on the ground and cuffed or having guns pointed at them. Just does not happen in my world.

So, if I understand you correctly here: If a white kid is disrespectful, it's a different matter (kids will be kids after all) but if a black kid does the same thing, they weren't raised properly by their "parents". Hmmm, I must have missed that memo. No matter how those folks in McKinney try to stall (we're conducting an investigation), spin this around or blame the kids, the bottom line is this: Had the kids attending that pool party been white, none of this would have happened.

Exactly! If this fool acts this way when there is NO danger whatsoever, I shudder to think of what would happen if he stumbles onto an ACTUAL crime being committed. I wouldn't want him nowhere near me as he's liable to shoot the victims and not the perpetrator(s).

Was you at a party in a ran down trailer park are in a nice neighborhood...??? Lol. That cop wouldn't have showed up acting like that in that neighborhood if it was a predominantly White party. Notice how he didn't make the White kid with the camera get down on the ground.

What's your point? So have I. I've also seen on numerous occasions black teens AND adults mouth off, yess, scream, and curse at police officers without finding themselves put on the ground and cuffed or have guns pointed at them.

I think you missed the whole point and that was that you had a bad cop that was freaking out. When you have a cop like that AND you mouth off, scream, and curse at that kind of cop while ignoring his orders, you find yourself put on the ground and cuffed.....if a couple of people try to rush him while he's doing it, they get a gun pulled on them.

    Not really hard to understand.

You clearly completely misunderstand. ANY kid who is a disrespectful little b*stard to cops or anyone really, probably wasn't raised properly.

Why the hell would you think there was a difference between white kids and black kids? Don't be another Remii.

That's a foolish assumption on your part. If 70 white kids had crashed that pool against the rules, and then talked back to that cop who was freaking out, the EXACT same thing would have happened. The only difference is that no one would be trying to spin it as a racial issue so it wouldn't make national news.

This is the funny new conservative thing. Much like intolerance of intolerance is intolerant, discussing the racism experienced by minorities makes you racist. You and Bobby must be twins.

You're talking to a dude who compares a peaceful protest consisting of Black and White people to a torch carrying _ sheet wearing _ cross burning lynch mob.

It's the most childish thing ever and makes a real discussion on race relations impossible.

The problem is that in this instance there shouldn't be a discussion on race relations. It's irrelevant to the story. Making irrelevant discussion impossible is a good thing.

Scarborough has a point. He roughed up a girl in a damn swimsuit. She wasn't a threat. Then he pulls out his gun like he's Rick Grimes being swarmed by walkers. Guy doesn't have the nerve for police work.
