Liked him his rookie year but not sure what happened last year. Didn't really take off like I thought, and his fg % is pretty terrible. Seems like someone that should be able to get to the rim more than he does, and obviously is having trouble finishing like I thought he should. I think he's worth a shot if you are only giving up maybe a highly protected 1st, and they'd need to make sure he's not going to get buried on the bench by coach for a veteran like Terry.
how many of his games have you watched, and can you break down his game for us? admittedly, i've only seen him maybe 20-25 times over the past couple seasons, and he did happen to play well in most of those. skillswise, his jumpshot is simply beautiful imo and i'd hope with the open looks created by our offense his fg% would improve dramatically. he also seems to be very smooth shooting off of screens. ballhandling is immensely better than bev, terry, or nick johnson. court vision is a plus with him. finishing in traffic and lateral quickness defensively seem to be minuses. for me, his talent and skillset are easily worth giving up that NY 2nd round pick..
His stock is real low right now. I don't know if I'd give up even a highly protected first for him. I doubt Utah would trade him (why sell so low?) but I would not be a fan of acquiring him.
Have it your way. The W's were way better than the Rox. We weren't competitive against them. Not a contender. Great, overachieving team. But not contender worthy.
1st sentence is true. 2nd sentence is not true. Games 1 and 2 could have gone either way. Could have been a very different series if we make 1 or 2 more plays. You could say that about a lot of games, but to say we "weren't competitive" is simply untrue.
Those are the kind of statements that cause dudes to just ignore basketballholic. That's not even remotely objective saying we "weren't competitive". That's him just pushing his narratives.
That's great Bobby. But it doesn't mean we are any closer to being contenders. We lost 4-1. They basically took a game off and then bounced us out when they got home. 2 starters down? Yes. Do you really think we would've beat them with Dmo and Bev?
Well, we obviously were competitive we just didn't have quite enough to win with our depleted roster.
When you are one of the final 4 teams even with a depleted roster, you clearly ARE a contender. Give the Rockets a healthy DMo and Bev and I think they have a very good shot at beating the Warriors. Having those two healthy makes for a better starting lineup AND a better bench.
Exactly. Even if we had our full roster, we probably still aren't favored over the Warriors. They're a historic team. That doesn't mean we "aren't close to being contenders" or whatever. That's just not objective nor true.
I don't think the Rockets are as close as a lot of people seem to think they are, and I'm expecting Morey to make major changes to both the starting lineup (one and four) and the bench.
In the East? Sure. The East is a joke. The Rockets were a 2 seed in the West despite missing key players almost all year long. They made it to the WCF despite missing 2 starters for the entire playoffs. There's no way anyone could objectively look at it and say the Rockets weren't contenders.
Iam gonna agree with basketballholic here ....while we are very close to being contenders we just aren't there yet or we weren't there this year...we lack discipline on both ends of the floor , and lack a secondary playmaker Our defense: Dal Avg 110 pts per game LAC averaged 121 pts per game GS avg 112 pts per game Is that championship caliber defense? thats just **** all around especially when you have a top 3 defensive center in the NBA Our coaching also isn't there yet ...adjustments happen to late , subs are just bad, and mchale stuck with terry even though he was getting torched, but i don't think mchale is the problem anymore even though he does lack a lot of musts in an NBA coach, that can be negated by getting an offensive minded assistant to help him. With both Bev and Dmo we are no doubt a contender but the playoff roster we had this year wasnt. But we are getting closer every year and i have no doubt more will make the necessary moves to make us a contender this year because PG has been disregarded for far too long now and its obvious thats what we lack, even harden said it publicly.
Golden State run; Pelicans, no Holiday Grizzles, no Allen Rockets, no Dmo, Beverly Cavs, no Kyrie or Love.
See....if you have to go there.....then they're not a contender. The statement that the Final 4 are contenders...just doesn't hold water. ATL probably wouldn't have made it out of the second round in the West and might not have made it out of the first round. There's a difference between a playoff contender and a championship contender.
The Warriors never play an intact starting lineup during their entire playoff run, they might never make it out of the 2nd round if they had to.....does that mean that they weren't contenders? If the Rockets could make it to the WCF with only 60% of their starting lineup, how far do they go if they have 100%? How far do they go if they never have to play against anyone with an intact starting lineup?
