Just call him up now. Who cares about home/road games. Hell, let him get his jitters out of the way on a road game.

He's in the lineup as of now for Fresno (game starts at 4:05 CST). Keeping an eye on it to see if that changes.

    Preesh.

Probably won't happen till closer to homestand, but it's time. Once the MLB draft is over I expect Luhnow to make the decision.

If they are so damn worried about the financial costs of super two, bring him up and then when Lowrie is back send him back out for a couple of weeks

But quit letting Villar cost us games Crane, please

Well, I would hope this front office wouldn't be as reactionary as fans on a message board... but this move has likely been planned for some time now, as far as the exact date, etc., so the speculation is certainly valid.

He's still a plane flight away regardless of whether he makes his debut in Houston or Chicago... don't really think it matters either way except the sooner he starts to play, the sooner this team is to improve both offensively and defensively.

Fully agree, but I wonder if this is JdJO pushing an agenda or the Astros using him to further theirs?!

I don't think this is a controversial enough subject to really let "agendas" get in the way... its clear what they're waiting for, the latter can't officially ever say it, and the former simply is informing the public that the deadline is likely to have passed.

Now if its mid July, and he still isn't up, you'll see Drelich and JDJO go nuts on the fans behalf.

Lol. Have fun trying to explain that one to fans. Can you imagine if he was crushing it, then they did that?

Yeah, that's not happening. But I do feel this regime is too "worried" about sending guys down mid-season... Last year, it was clear that Singleton wasn't "getting it", but he never was demoted.

Sometimes, they're all about analytics... Other times, they do things because they want to achieve their intended goal, regardless of the consequences.

I think they recognize there is ultimately no replacement for experience. They didn't care about winning games last year, so it was a great time to let Singleton see as much MLB pitching as he could. This year is more complex because they have to balance development and winning, but last year, there was not much benefit to sending him back to AAA.

There's "experience"... and then there's what Singleton was showcasing in August.

At one point, he was swinging at pitches 10 feet off the plate with his eyes closed... it was not "helpful".

While you say there was not much "benefit" to sending him back to AAA, I say there was not much "harm" either... especially when its clear that a player is that overmatched.

I know that's not gonna happen

But I also know if it was truly about doing whatever it takes to make the playoffs this year

    He would be up
