Seen a Rumor with Brandon Jennings attached to it, I think I would prefer him over Lawson.. (If healthy)..

    Better shooter
    Taller
Fits style of play like glove
    Lefty *wink

    A Jennings/Llull backcourt

    With a Brewer/Smith back..

    This.

Brewer did not play in the playoffs as well as the regular season, but it seems folks have forgotten how he and Smith were keys players for us in achieving the 4th best regular season record in franchise history, to say nothing about his performance in game 6 against the Clippers.

I'm not trying to push anybody anywhere dude. But I'm not going to let that chump tell me what to do either. I didn't charge him up, he came after me with that nonsense. I was talking to dobro anyways. So dude has no right telling me to leave a thread period.

The length of Brewer, Ariza, Jones and Smith really hurt the Clippers and was pointed out by the announcers in that series. I'm 100% for bringing Brewer back and giving him and Smith a full season with this rockets team. If your an objective fan you would agree that if Brewer, Smith and Jones (who missed 49 games) had played most of the season the team would have won over 60 games hands down even with Howard out. If they can add a real PG to this current team then everyone's game will get much better and I'm sure no will want to play the rockets come playoff time.

This. Excellent Post! You couple them with legitimate pg that can score to Flank Harden we would be the deepest team on par with GSW. Sure gambles on steals but he's that extra defender you need on the perimeter, Brewer brings that dimension to our team and no doubt with the continuity that we develop playing together for a year we would be on par to win 60.

This makes absolutely no sense .... why would a free agent with early bird rights have anything to do with a guy at another position who's draft rights you own ?
Even if they gave Brewer the max allowed under those early bird rights , they dont get anywhere near the apron or hard cap either.

Top that off with the fact that if they let Brewer walk they have no means of replacing him other than a minimum contract or the MLE.
They'll likely lose KJ McDaniels too as the only means to retain him is the MLE and using it on Llull would nix that.

Seems to me to make a whole lot more sense to retain Brewer if you used the MLE on any player who doesn't replace him.

More than likely.... if we get Llull, probably no KJ, and potentially have to let Smith walk.

Brewer... I think he's back with the Rockets next year pretty much any way unless the Rockets value cap space that much next year to where they don't want his salary on the books if he's looking for a multi-year deal.

There really is no way to tell exactly who is going to be back next year, and whatnot. The Rockets will try for the big fish first, and when that does or doesn't happen it will be on to priority #2, and 3, 4, etc.

I understand the strategy, but when you go for home runs, you are likely to strike out. Some of our free agents will not wait long to sign other teams lucrative offers, and we might lose out not only on the big fish, but on the smaller ones too. Back to square one if that happens.

Bottom line: you do whatever you can to retain the players who helped you win 56 games and made a deep playoff run.

maybe it's because Llull would eat a lot of brewer's minutes.

How would getting Jennings in Houston work with the cap? He makes 8.4 million next season.

I don't know why we wouldn't be optimistic about adding Brewer, but I think if you can add Llull at the expense of Brewer, you do it. There are plenty of backup wing players that could be available for < $5 MM (Dunleavy, Bellineli, Aminu), but there aren't a plethora of PGs available that would be a true upgrade. Bev/Llull > Bev/Brewer IMO.

Check back on 7/15 to see what their checkbooks say; I suspect they'll be a lot fuller than you suspect. Junior might??? consider a 'discount' to stay with Bulls???

Definitely a possibility, especially with the cap increasing in a year, teams may be more willing to spend a little extra on role players than in years past. I think our best option is Dunleavy IF we are looking to further bolster our bench or replace Brewer - he may be more open to leaving Chicago now that Thibs is gone, and will probably be looking for a good amount of minutes on a legitimate contender.

Get a grip? Nice discussion. Aminu is a guy who shot 40% from the field and 25% from 3. He played great in the playoffs which may be his saving grace but being worth significantly more than 5 MM? Get a grip.

Aminu is going to be this generations Jerome James. One decent series in the playoffs is going to make him a multi millionaire. He's not that good and honestly I don't understand the people who said he did a great job on harden. Harden surpassed his season av in that series dishing out 8 assists a game. Aminu didn't shut **** down.

No one will pay Aminu more then 7mill a year.I see him getting something like a Lance Stephenson contract.

Will Jennings lose a step with that Achilles injury ? His game is predicated on speed and quickness.
