Rasmus should've been bunting with runners on second and third (Villar) and 1 out, not 2 outs in the 9th. Lots of mental/managerial mistakes today. Still good to take 3 of 4
Based on his illustrious MLB career thus far? Sure. Lets just say that is who he is, and ignore him going 2-14 his last 5 games with 5K's, and no HR's in his last 10 games despite playing nearly everyday. At the end of the day, he's still a rookie that will produce some inconsistent results. Rasmus is not a minor league castoff... he's a professional hitter as well. Also, since he was pinch-hitting for Marisnick, who were you going to have play CF the following inning? Or were you going to PH Tucker and then sub Rasmus for Tucker??? Hell, in the end he was one of the few professional hitters we have that DIDN'T strikeout.
And how many bunts does Rasmus have in his career? If Hinch wanted to bunt, he would have likely left Marisnick in.
They have a good young nucleus and have put up some big win totals in a tough division over the last 3 years.... everybody here has small sample size syndrome.
Are you kidding? Forget what he did in the 9th--this is another ridiculous statement in a thread full of them
As frustrating as it is to lose this one, these same guys have been coming up big all year. There will be bumps along the way...we are off to Franchise Record start!!
Well, that was a pretty lame way to end a series. However, nice to get a little measure of revenge on those birds. Let's beat down the Canadian birds again this weekend. Also: Can I endure a whole summer's worth of GARM-esque crap in series threads? Guess I'll have to find out...
What's ridiculous about it? 1 out, fast runner on third, struggling to score runs. I think the Orioles thought he'd be bunting too, which is why they put in a submarine pitcher and gave him 7 high pitches. Keeping Marisnick in the game would've been fine too.
Lot's going on here. First, Tucker may have a small sample size of success and you like to let that be known...then you follow it up with a 5 game sample of stats...lol. If you want to take an arbitrary number of previous games played, I can play that game too...I'll even throw in an additional game to increase sample size. Rasmus in his last 6 games played: 19 ABs, 4 hits, 11 strikeouts, 0 HR. Again, Rasmus has been a career strike out machine. When you have a guy on 3rd with less than 2 outs...you dont put a guy at the plate that strikes out at the rate Rasmus strikes out. Now, Colby didnt K, but we need contact on that at-bat. And we didnt get it. And sure, PH Tucker, then sub in Rasmus for defensive purposes (you like to ask what place does Colby have on this team...and there you go). This isnt the NL where you constantly need bench players to PH for pitchers. Also, check out Tucker's stats as a pinch hitter.
Hey...remember way back when McCullers threw that awesome complete game? Seems like ages ago already.
I don't know either. It wasn't like this when the team was going well way back when.. I suppose lesser membership on the site = lesser Astros fans here back then
Prepare yourself for the inevitable: the Stros will have a rough stretch of games (it happens to everybody) and will lose the division lead at some point. This forum will be oh so fun then.
