Flacco isn't far from a Fitz level QB. When you have a QB like Flacco or Russell Wilson, you aren't going to win with your QB because you don't have a Manning, Brees, or Rodgers quality guy so you build up the running game and the defense and win that way. Mallett could very well be a Flacco level QB....in fact I'd hope he'd be better than that because that's not really saying much. Teams win championships, not individual players. Sure an elite level QB makes it a lot easier to win, but there's maybe 3 or 4 of them in the NFL at any given moment. If you don't have one of them, your strategy has to be different.
Flacco is pretty close to the exact definition of average. Now sure, he got incredibly lucky often enough on that SB run to where he fooled a lot of people, but hail mary passes that happen to work out isn't the sign of a good QB. Find me a time where Joe Flacco has ever been in the top 10 in the NFL in QB rating, completion percentage, or yards if he's such a great QB. Just once. Hell Fitz was top 10 in QB rating just last season, so it's not like it takes all that much.
If you don't have an elite QB, you aren't winning big. Flacco has not been lucky in the playoffs, he has been elite which is why he got paid. If Mallet becomes Flacco you can win big. Teams are driven by their QB unless you somehow think the Brady's and Mannings of the world can easily be replaced and their teams will win big without them.
Fair enough. I'll accept that you believe that the very definition of an average QB (Flacco) is somehow "elite" simply because his team won a SB and you probably also retroactively call any QB that happens to start for the team that wins the SB "elite". It kind of ends the conversation though because there's just no way we'll ever see eye to eye on even the most basic and fundamental parts of the game.
Dude, stop it. Just stop. Flacco is elite in the playoffs. The stats back it up. He's had multiple good/great playoff runs. You're probably just trying to justify some previous narrative you had about his not being good. It really hurt you when he beasted in the '12 playoffs. "Just a lucky run"... smh
For his career he has an 88.6 QB rating and has a 56.6 completion percentage in the playoffs, clearly he's amazing. His grand total of two 300+ yard games in the playoffs probably sets records as does his beastly average of 214.8 yards per game in the playoffs. He's had good games, he's had bad games, taken as a whole, he's just Average Joe. Of course, we're supposed to believe he's more than that because of the narrative that only teams with great QB's win super bowls.....despite the evidence to the contrary.
Just for fun, let's take Joe Flacco's career playoff numbers and put them up next to the combined QB performance of Texans QB's last season Flacco 56.6 completion percentage 88.6 QB rating 214.8 yards per game, two 300+ yard games Texans QB's in 2014 60.8 completion percentage 86.4 QB rating 210 yards per game, one 300+ yard game Surely Flacco is a beast.
Post the stats minus his first 2 seasons. He struggled his rookie and second year... but the man is clutch in the postseason.
Ah, so if we ignore his bad games, he's good? Is that how it works? He struggled just last year getting destroyed by Cincinnati and Houston. It's okay, you can admit the obvious, he's just not that good. There's nothing wrong with being Average Joe.
Everything counts, right? Good games and bad. Yet you blow off Flacco's obviously good/great playoffs runs by claiming it "lucky". You represent hypocrisy at its finest... I mean worse.
There was a ton of luck involved in his playoff run, and if you looked at it objectively you'd see that. What happens if new Texan Rahim Moore plays this http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-cant-...Can-t-Miss-Play-Jacoby-Jones-70-yard-TD-catch Even halfway competently? It's an easy interception or at bare minimum a deflection and the Ravens never make it to the AFC championship game, let alone the SB. In fact, if you really looked at the games, he relied on hail mary style passes miraculously ending up in the hands of his receivers multiple times during that SB run.....the same style of play that led to him throwing more interceptions than touchdowns the season after that playoff run.
Some luck? Sure To completely deem the run lucky? Foolish and agenda driven Objectively speaking, Flacco was "unlucky" the previous season when NE PDd a game-winning TD out of his receiver's hands. That doesn't help your argument so you'll blow it off.
Also, if everything counts... your boy Clowney is a bust. I think he's highly suspect and it's too early to proclaim what he is, but using your thesis.... Clowney is a bust. Again, hypocrisy at its finest.... I mean, worse.
Predictably, you give a weak response when you have no ground to stand on. Weak NFL takes.... you mean when you proclaimed Romo as average. Yet Fitz is above average. BobbytheCake back at it again.
I'm pretty sure you just made that up....predictably. Anyway, let's just drop this, it's not going anywhere, you can just act shocked when you realize that I'm right yet again....or struggle to forget that I told you so. It's better if we don't clutter this board up with your nonsense so more informed posters can add their insight.
There was debate for a while between Flacco and Schaub as who was better. Flacco is not elite, but he's a above average NFL QB. I consider elite QB's players that can carry a whole offense. Brady, Manning, Rodgers, and Luck.
