Don't forget Kelvin Cato. Rudy and CD handed that dude a 6-year, $42 million contract based on one preseason game where he blocked 7 shots and started drooling. There were some seriously awful moves made by this organization in the post-Quitten/pre-T-Mac & Yao era. To the point where they had so many bad contracts on the books, they had to let a good player like James Posey walk.

His price is low. Morey values max contracts given to top defensive players in the league. It also expires soon enough that a devastating injury wouldn't handicap us longterm.

People need to understand one our biggest handicaps right now is not having enough filler contracts for trades.

What if two good players on medium sized contracts become available, say Ty Lawson and Ryan Anderson?

It would be extremely difficult to make the contracts work without money to send out. Prigioni and Papanikalou are perfect trade filler because they are non guaranteed, but a contract like Dorsey's is also key to get the maximum amount of incoming salary available.

People who are crticizing the Dorsey contract need to realize its not costing us anything and it is potentially critical for future trades.

Dwight. 23 million for a guy who doesn't play half of the games.

Think he would take the vet minimum to join a contender in Houston?

Who voted Trevor Ariza? Ariza's salary is down each year in the table, never heard this kind of contract before.

Nick Johnson is a rookie. He still has potential and time to improve and I think that the Houston FO likes his defensive abilities.

Joey Dorsey is 31. He isn't going to get any better. He is what he is.

You know a trade of Dwight could land some fantastic players in return, right?

I agree... but at this juncture (vying for a championship) I don't think ether is beneficial tying up a roster spot - and NJ has an additional year on his cotract than Dorsey for similar money...

LOL at people saying Dwight! Regardless of his contract... the ACTUAL question is - "Who's contract do you think you couldn't trade for at least a second round pick?" .... you wouldnt amnesty someone if you could trade them - even for insignificant return.... The only contracts I'm not confident that we could get a return on are Dorsey and Johnson...
